Don't hesitate to call the bariatric center that each doctor runs out of too. The ladies that help patients pre-surgery are super helpful and nice. Most of them have had the sleeve themselves and are very honest about what to expect and which doctor they recommend.
Hope that helps!
Good luck :)
I have read that head hunger can also be caused by excess gastric acid in the early post of stages.
some people have to increase their anti acid /PPI.
Thanks for the insight.
i really like Hosp Angeles in TJ. It seems to be like a true full service specialty hospital but you definitely pay more to go there.
i see that Valenzula, Garcia and A. Lopez are similar in cost and all were trained by Dr. Corvala. Of course Corvala is more $.
i really like what I read about Valenzuela and Garcia. Well I have a month or so to decide so I guess I will continue to research the various sites and see how the process evolves.
Hi! I am scheduled for a sleeve with Valenzuela on April 23 in Tijuana. I was originally with Lopez but I heard some things about him that made me uneasy so I switched. Valenzuela's team has been great so far, but I can definitely give you an update after surgery on how things went with her. Private message me if you want to know anything else :)
i have a list of surgeons who I am considering in 3 different price groups. I want a real good hospital or Center of Excellence
Group One: High end cost
Ariel Ortiz- FACS
Juan Corvala - FACS
Wilhemly - FACS
The above are highly qualified and operate
Group 2:
Garcia
A. Lopez
Valenzuela
All seem real good, are less money than Group One.
Any advice?
Very confusing since Mexico has different certifications and training requirements than in the US.
To confuse things even further, several highly trained and experienced Mexican surgeons are members of ASMBS.
More importantly are the docs who are FACS (Fellows of the American College of Surgeons);
some that come to mind are Wilhemly, Ariel Ortiz, Juan COrvala and J. Kelly.
In general, these surgeons tend to operate in better hospitals and are more expensive.
This is what my research is showing. Do I want to pay more with these docs? Perhaps.
i will figure this all out in the next week or two.
I took a certified check for the remainder. I had a consult with the doctor the morning of the surgery. He took the check during that meeting.

Dear Sim,
Friends of mine used this same service 1.5 yrs ago. The drivers were wonderful in helping them navigate this. Most everyone speaks English. The staff handles everything. The driver even offered to take them to the beach for a few hours on one of their postop days. Only need a few $ I too am scheduled for here, but for in May. Stay excited and work slowly toward learning/ preparing. Blessings
Terrie
He is popular because he is cheap but dig well enough and you will read of complications. He does 240 surgeries a month out of a clinic at a strip mall ! Bariatric Pal endorces him and they have been known to delete posts and block people who say too many negatives about him. That's a fact, they deleted my post just yesterday. Dr. Q is good I would definitely consider him but IMHO the best in Mexico are Dr. Rodriguez (that's who I'm using, 10,000 procedures under his belt and full service modern hospital the whole time you're there) and Dr. Ramos Kelley, Dr. Corvela and Dr. Alvarez, oh and Whilmey and Illan seem good too.
