Hello Everyone,

I'm new to the site and I was looking for someone to chat with that has gone/is going through the process at Henry Ford Hospital.  I've had my psych eval. and was told that it would be about two weeks because it would be submitted to HAP for a second approval.  Any information is appreciated, thanks.

Not sure why you are leery of Henry Ford?   It is a beautiful, worldclass hospital.  I had HAP for more than 10 years, and absolutely loved it.  I was very dissapointed when we had to change.  The physicians and services at Henry Ford were second to none.   If you have any questions about Henry Ford, please feel free to e-mail me.     Carol

Congrats on choosing Henry Ford!  I do have HAP and used it for my surgery.  I had Dr. Genaw and he was wonderful.  He just removed my gall bladder last week too.  Keep on them about your psych eval.  It took the dr almost a month to get it to the HAP nurses.  I had to keep calling the psych dr to see when she was going to forward it.  TG that dr is no longer with HF.  If you have any questions, let me know.  Also, if you have done the 4 hr session, make sure you join us on the yahoo message board too.  Which dr have you choosen?  If you have any questions, let me know.

I think they told me Dr. Genaw, not sure though, cause I really didn't choose, I remember them saying his name when I made the initial call, I think.  I've read a lot of positive things about him, so I know if it's him, I'll be in great hands.  I guess I do the 4hr session after I've been approved by the psche, it was a positive visit so I guess it will be okay.

I do not understand why you would be leery of Henry Ford.  I have gone there for several things and always gotten great service and I just really think they are one of the best places I have went too.....

I cannot help you with your insurance but I do wish you the best in your efforts of finding a place you are comfortable with and your procedure.

Don't be leery of Henry Ford.  It's a great hospital, I've been there for other procedures and they are very professional.  Yes, they do serve the community and patients who have a vast number of medical or personal issues, but they do a good job.  I'm glad that if everything works out, I'll be going there.  All of my doctors are through HF and I just love the care I receive!

No offense but are you leery of Henry Ford because it's in Detroit and in the ghetto?  I happen to work there as a nurse and am getting my surgery there. I've very confident in my outcome after surgery because I believe in the hospital and the system and think it is the best in Michigan.  I worked at Beaumont prior to working at HFH and have to say that they wanted $5,000 bucks as a deposit for RNY and wouldn't consider me until I had to do their weightloss program for a year. HAP is only charging me a $1,000 co-pay. My only gripe is that my appointment isn't until Febuary.

Rockgurl, I don't know what doctor you saw but my doctor told me in the office that I was approved.
