The Banders "EXCUSE"

To all Banders
I have used every possible excuse in my past fat life, so I doubt
there are many I won't recognize like you all.

These are the "red flag" words for me, and maybe they will be for you
too.

"I CAN'T"....
- exercise because I have bad knees, feet, back, joints..
- eat well becuase I'm so busy...
- find time to make my lunch
- give up sodas or bread
- not drink with meals
- afford better food
- afford Band vitamins

"I NEVER"...
- eat veggies
- drink water
- plan meals ahead of time
- have patience

"I ALWAYS"...
- grab a 500 cal latte on the way to work
- go out with friends for a work lunch at the Fast food place
- have ice cream at night
- snack in front of the TV
- grab dinner from the deli on the way home

"I WON'T"...
- join "Curves" or get regular exercise
- carry a drink bottle with me
- spend time learning about better nutrition
- give up most sweets and junk
- make time for needed fills or unfills
- put the band's needs first
- ask for more family help so I can have the time to get healthy again
- consider Guided Imaqery
- learn new low-cal recipes
- see a therapist

Band success requires many changes. It is not easy, and can be very
hard work sometimes. But what WE WERE DOING is exactly what made us
fat. WE NEED TO CHANGE TO BECOME UN-FAT! FIND an exercise you can do!
Try new foods and new cooking techniques!

What excuses are YOU willing to give up to make your weight loss a
life-saving success? What is YOUR life worth to you and your family?

Randy, I can sum this up for you.

IF WE ALWAYS DO WHAT WE'VE ALWAYS DONE, WE'LL ALWAYS GET WHAT WE'VE ALWAYS GOT.

I have a sign on my refrigerator that says  "You can't do the same thing and expect different results".  Same sentiment.

I have a sign on my fridge that says "My house was clean last week. Sorry you missed it."  Oh wait...THAT'S NOT THE SAME THING AT ALL!

But yes, Brenda, that is the same sentiment and I have to remind myself of that sometimes.  Hmmmmm...maybe I'm not as smart as I once was.  Or as funny.

I told the babysitter when I hired her.......my house is clean on Sunday evenings only.  If you're not here then, don't expect it.

When I was a kid and I used to babysit, I always picked up the house for the parents.  Oh well.  I guess $10 an hour doesn't get you much, huh?

You forgot my favorite excuse, Randy.

I can't eat healthy foods like meat or fruit with the band,so I will just eat what I can (like chips and ice cream) and hope for the best.

That one worked for a while until I joined this board and someone-I think it was you Randy- told me to stop fooling myself and get to work!
