Topic: RE: Looking for people in Flint area.
Hi I see we had the same doctor. Dr Kia's office has a support group meeting that I go to once a month in the evenings. It is the first Wednesday of each month from 6:00-7:00. They also have one during the day but I cannot remember the dates or time. If I can help in anyway please let me know.

Hi Tammy, congrats on your decision to change your life.
I dont know how long it take with bcbs sorry. But it sounds like your
ahead of the game.
and as for the healing everyone is different. I really needed a good month
to get back to work. No amount of preparing helped when my body was
screaming for water and the only thing I could do was sip. I just wanted
to chug the whole glass. It is worth it though.
All things get better with time, you just have to give TIME--TIME
Best of luck
Dani

Topic: A new lurker-surgery soon hopefully
Hello everyone, my name is Tammy and I am in the process of going through the 1000 steps to get to surgery. Currently, I am 37 and at the weight of 426 lbs. Currently married with a 2 1/2 year old Skylar. As far as my health, I am pretty healthy with te exception that I have developed diabetes after the pregnancy (yikes). I am looking to have the rny precedure done. Just have a few questions.
1) How long does it take to go through the steps to have the surgery (i have bcbs with a bmi over 50 so I do not have to go though the 6 month supervised weight loss yay). Just to add that I have had, my physical, psych exam, stress test, nutirition &exercise consultation, and blood work.
2) how long did it take to heal after surgery.
why an I doing this? Because I want to be here alot longer. Alot of my friends that are heavy and passing away right and left. Have to get healthy and be here for the fam. Really scared and needing people to talk to about what to expect.

Topic: RE: N Surgery.
I am sorry to hear that this type of discrimination is still going on in 2012 also. I am glad to see your latest post that you will be able to get your surgery done on May 9th. Your surgeon sounds like he or she is a very good and compassionate human being.
I do hope that this hospital gets more than just a slap on the wrist! Seriously, would they deny a patient if they arrived at their hospital in an emergency situation? I just don't get where they are coming from or trying to go with this decision.
Please know that discrimination is not and should not be tolerated...I am angry about this situation.
Take care and keep us posted!
