I would be interested as well...Dr. Kemmeter is AWESOME!
How did your appointment go?
Yes they do have support group meetings at GHP.
You can pick up a flyer there on the days & times.
Alot of their meetings conflict with my work schedule so I've only
gone 2-3 times so far.
Please keep us posted on your journey & Merry Christmas!

I am in Comstock Park and am meeting with Dr Kemmeter this afternoon. I am hoping to get the duodenal switch with him. I have not met him yet, but always read great things about him. They told me of the support group that meets at Grand Health Partners like the 2nd Wednesday every month, you may want to stop over there to recruit a few people for another.I would be interested as well...

Topic: RE: Update on my brain cancer
Mary,
I hate the drive to U of M BUT I would also hate goin to my local hospital even worse. The little hospitals are NOT equiped to treat a brain cancer pt. I am NOT saying ALL small hospitals bUT the one on went to on a ER basis was looking for a tumor that was TAKEN out..
thanks for the thoughts & prayers

Gastric Plication folds the stomach inside itself to make a 'sleeve'. It is much like the sleeve but with out removing any of the stomach. No by passing of anything or malabsorbtion. It is also completely reversable if for some reason it needed to be. You could go to Dr. Brian Gluck's website and get more information I guess. I am about 2 months out now and so far very happy! You do lose weight slower than with other surgery's but I feel very good and have never (as of yet) had any problems!

Unfortunately there are a lot of people on the OH boards who don't support something they don't know much, if anything about, especially if it isn't the surgery they had. There are getting to be many different types now.
I've heard of the Gastric Plication before, but don't know anything about it. Can you tell me what it involves, and if you know, how its different from Gastric Bypass?
Thanks!
