Topic: Dr. Gluck
Just wondering if anyone has had any personal experience with Dr. Gluck in Muskegon, Mi?  I am considering his office for the sleeve and will be paying out of pocket so any input would be welcome.

Thanks

make sure you are drinking plenty of water. so you don't dehydrate! If the queesies keep happening you may want to consult your dr.

Topic: Hmmmm, where to start?!
Hi, my name is Susanna, I'm 49 and my BMI is 49.1. I've thought about this for quite awhile but just over the last year have gained about 50 lbs and now feel it's urgent. I do have high bp and am so exhausted and my body refuses to let me exercise. Simple walking makes my back spasm and my hips hurt. I have BCBSM which if I understand correctly will cover the surgery 100% after my deductible. I'm not sure what else I'm required to do other then a physical and a visit to the psych. I think I may have to go through 6 months of dr monitored diet attempt unless I'm at 50 BMI (sad to say, I'm close).

I'm in Ann Arbor, MI but since it looks like I'm required to use a Center of Excellence I'll have about an hour drive to the closest approved drs. How many visits should I expect to have to make in connection with surgery?

I'm unsure which surgery but am really afraid of the gastric bypass. I feel like the sleeve or band is a less scary option.

I looked at the patient reviews of drs but there didn't seem to be many current reviews for MI.
Ditto for hospitals. So many decisions...I really don't know where to start :(

I used to post here all the time.  I have the lap band and had it unfilled at 1 and 2 years out.  My PCP wrote a referal to get it out.  I am now trying to deal with the center to get a revision.

Have just been dealing for the last year and a half without any real help.  Just to depressed to post here.

BAND REMOVED 9-4-12-fought insurance to get sleeve and won! Sleeved 1/22/13! Five years out and trying to get that last 15 pounds back off.

Ronda my DD had the same thing happen.  PCP didn't send records timely and than the center didn't send theirs to insurance.

You have to keep on them.  My daughter got to where she was calling the center once a week, than once a day.  They told her they sent them but, the insurance said they didn't get them so she would get back on the phone to the center.  Keep after them, seems the saying about the squeaky wheel.

She learned when I went thru it and got left in limbo when paperwork wasn't sent.

Even though I have central air at home and at work I still don't have much of an appetite. I'm blaming the heat. I try to eat protein every few hours, and have a protein shake at night if I eat carbs instead of protein. And I've been drinking extra fluids.

You need to remember to eat to keep your blood sugar stable. Even if you haven't had blood sugar issues, forgetting to eat for the whole day could make it drop.
