I honestly can't decide
Between the lap-band and the RNY. I think I need to make a pros cons list, but that's too much work. Just wanted to vent right now. LOL
Anyone make the decision? What was your deciding factor? Lap-band: Okay I'm hearing how much they seem to have to work to lose weight, okay why have surgury? The band needs to be removed permanently around 15-20 years. Plus the tinkering factor, ick! On the positive side there is no mal-absorbtion and I'm totally fearful of it. RNY: Vitamins, hear bad things from people in real life (who haven't had it that is), haven't found much on-line from the regular folks that is. Honestly the mal-absorbtion scares me. Do vitamins really help? Anyone really struggling and just not sharing?

It is a hard decision to make. I think you should talk with your doctor or surgeon and see what they think before making your decision. THats what they are there for. You dont have to make a final decision until you submit your paperwork to the insurance company. And even then you can change your mind and resubmit. I am not sure where you are in the process though.
I am only 3 weeks out, but alot of people on here are further out and they seem to be doing great! Just take it one day at a time and the answer will come to you!
Hope this helped even a little!

You will find horror stories with both procedures!!! My decising factor -- LB really didn't seem much different than every other diet I have tried over the years. I can still eat all the crap I want and there is no consequence except no weight loss. The RNY limits the crap because you get sick -- don't eat right and take your vitamins and you will have serious issues. MUCH more of a commitment on the tool work!!! Both are major surgeries that have the same consequences -- nick an organ, recovery problems, etc. I didn't like that the LB could breakdown and actually split into pieces and pierce other organs!!! And the first fill is not for a while (you have to heal), and then time between fills -- and most fills are out of pocket. Those were things I looked at that helped me change from LB to RNY. And now I am sooooo glad I did!!! Good luck with your decision.
