Winter blahs.....  We need the sun.  Where is the sun? Soon we will start seeing flowers blooming and hear birds chirping.  But until then, hang in there!  And know you aren't alone. Just last week I asked if God could fix stupidity.  My mom said he can't.  So I just have to learn to live with it.  Oh well.

Oh Carol~ You are sooooo NOT alone feeling this way!  I bet half of us--if not more--are in the winter schlumps.  It's been a loooong winter---the longest, coldest, and snowiest in years. BUT it's almost over!!  YIPPEE!! As others have said--take some time for yourself.  It's  hard to give to others when you're running on empty. So be nice to yourself and recharge your batteries--go to a spa, or gym, or wherever you usually go to get peace within yourself and get yourself centered.  You will get over the winter schlumps! Life is short, Break the rules, Forgive quickly, Kiss slowly, Love truly, Laugh uncontrollably, And never regret anything that made you smile.

Life may not be the party we hoped for, but while we're here we should sing and dance.

Hey Carol! I am sorry you are feeling so down!  I think that everyone feels that way once and a while, so don't feel like you are out of the ordinary in that respect.  Maybe a weekend away is exactly what you need!  Is there a possibility of hitting the casino for a night or two?  Or what about just a night out with some of your friends.  This may be the mini vacation you need to ease some of the pressure you are feeling and give you some of the perspective you want to face the decisions you are needing to make.  Of course, if that amount of time isn't available in your calendar, maybe a manicure or a pedicure could work!  Do something for you.....to relax. Call me up for coffee or drinks and I'd be happy to do that too! I am here for you....just say the word! love ya! Jeanne

Wow. I am sooo glad I read this post, because I was blessed by it and now I have (happy ) tears. It was so cool the way these words and prayers made their way into Barb's day immediately. Her  responses showed her openness to them, and to all of her responders. What a gift it is to put to all "out there" and to NOT BE JUDGED for it. Just loved, validated, supported and prayed for. As I read this board, I saw it morphing into a book and resting on a little bookshelf in my heart. I want to add a little quote I have hanging on our basement wall: (You've probably heard it, but it fits here, I think.) "Our angel friends sing to us our song when we've forgotten the words."  author unknown  Thanks for posting your real story today Barb. You are NOT alone. Peace-  Cindy

I'm so sorry you are struggling Carol!!!  While I'm with everyone in the winter blahs thing - I hope that's all you have, but I hear an undertone that there is much more to it.  I so hope I'm wrong.

You have had a very disruptive year.  WLS, job change and you just lost your sister.  And the thing that you use to go to is a big no no ---- food....It's okay to be in a funk for a little while with all you've been through.  Hugs to you and prayers you find peace with all your changes. XXOO

You have my hugs and prayers, Carol.  And you are SO NOT ALONE!!!  Everyone has their own trials, and the season certainly isn't helping.  The support group meeting at PNC last night was filled with people struggling for one reason or another, and everyone mentioned that they've lost their coping mechanism - FOOD. Well, I'm here to make a suggestion.  DO SOMETHING UTTERLY SELFISH FOR YOU.  Something your inner care-taking woman would be shocked to even consider!  "I can't do that!!?!!"  Bullshizz.  JUST DO IT!  I almost felt like I was the only HAPPY person there last night!  Why?  'cuz of the opportunity that fell in my lap to go HORSE BACK RIDING!!!  Doing that one thing yesterday LIFTED MY SPIRITS HIGH!!!  It's something I have always loved to do, something I hadn't done in 17 years!  And I did hear "voices" in my head telling me I shouldn't !  I'm still too big.  People don't take days off work to do something so selfish.  It would be wrong.  Then everyone here, AND MY BOSS, poo-poohed that mindset right out the door, I WENT HORSEBACK RIDING, and I'm HAPPY!!!  It won't make spring show up any sooner, but it's gonna tide me over until is does!!!   So find that thing that you feel you shouldn't do for yourself, and DO IT ANYWAY!  I sincerely think it would help every one of us!
