Hi My big addiction was smoking.  (18 years) I have been smoke free for over 2 years. now food has become a big transfer for me. I can see the addiction problem in myself. Is it bad to say "hay I need a new healthy addiction to replace the eating one? any advice ? I have not had surgery yet just trying to learn as much as possible.

Exercise or just walking is a good transfer.  Getting involved in activities or volunteering are good.  Me?  I prefer to shop, whether I buy or not isn't important, as long as I'm shopping.  Oh wait, I had that BEFORE surgery too.

Shopping is good. Especially when no kids are with or hubby. free time to just wonder and space out. Wouldn't it be funny to just hop on a tradmill in he middle of the store and go all out. ha ha ha  thanks for the thoughts. LOL JILL

One thing that might be healthy is exercise, just be careful you don't overdo it, but it could be used to help deal with stress.

Excersise is a good one.  Shopping is a dangerous one for me because I'm poor.   Meditation is really good because if you can calm your head and figure out why you want something so bad maybe you can realize you don't really need what ever it is. Hope this helps.

I got addicted to knitting shortly after surgery.  I've tapered off quite a bit now, but man...I had one heckuva habit!  Musta made 50+ dishrags in a couple of weeks.  I know it's pretty sedentary - but it still is fairly "safe".
