Just got home from the weekend at Abbott.

Woke up on Thursday night with what I thought was the stomach flu.  Well I hadn't eaten much that day so I had the dry heaves for about 8 hours.  Spent all day Friday in bed feeling sick to my stomach and with stomach pain. Saturday morning the pain in my tummy and migraine owned my life.  I told DH I just needed some more rest and I would be just fine.  Well he wasn't buying that 103 fever, no energy, not eating, or drinking was good for me.  So he hauled me down to Abbott with assistance from my grand daughter and Daughter.  They gave me migraine meds and some pain killers. They alos got my fluid requirements into me and with the stomack pain went away with this also. Got up Sunday morning to try to get a few things done around the house but no such luck.  Right side pain was killing me so off to the ER  again.  My DH had called Dr. Leslie the night before and he told John to bring me to the ER for a scan of the Gallbladder and see what we find.  The Dr. that did the scan said the Gallbladder was very inflammed and there were 3 very large stones (about the size of quarter ea) blocking the way out, so the crap was being absorbed into my system and that was why I was so sick.  White blook count was down and they did  emergency gallbladder surgery that night at 8:20, the Gallbladder was so large they have to open up on the the LAP holes to accomodate the oversized gallbladder.  FYI, I did lose another 5 pounds in 4 days but I would't recommend doing it this way. So if anyone out there ever has pains they never had before be sure and get it checked out!  Bonnie

Yikes!  That does not sound like a fun way to spend the weekend.  I do hope that you are feeling better now that you have that pesky gallbladder out.  They actually removed mine when they did my RNY in December, which was nice because it is one less thing to worry about. Do take it easy and allow your body to recouperate after being so sick.

Oh my goodness Bonnie!  So sorry to hear about this.  I so wish they would take the gallbladder all the time when they do this surgery.  I still have mine and wonder if I'm going to have to get cut back open.   So glad they were able to find the problem and take care of it so quickly. Take care of you!

I didn't have my gall bladder taken out with my RNY and I have since had a couple gall bladder attacks (nothing like this though) and instead of surgery I flushed my gall bladder and that got rid of all the gall stones, so even if you do have a problem, there are ways to fix it without surgery. (Just as an FYI)
