Mental Health Advice
Hi guys!
Just seeking some input into therapists any of you can recommend? I was recommended to one that deals primarily with WLS patients and wouldn't you know it, she doesn't accept Health Partners insurance. I figured I would check with all of you to see what you know. . .
Physically I am doing just fine. Time to get my head straight and in the game, too. All this change in less than a year is sometimes hard to deal with.

Hey Amy!!!! Long time no see!!!! Gosh you are looking fantastic!!! :) As far as mental health therapists go, I see a psychologist and even though she's skinny as a rail and doesn't specialize in bariatric patients, she is the most empathetic, personable person who has helped me so much over the last two years. I've learned so much about myself and I think it's one of the reasons why I haven't had a typical post op breakdown.
It's good to talk to someone unbiased to help you cope with the changes like you said. I think everyone who has WLS should see a therapist before, during and after this journey. It can't hurt anyone and can only help. BTW, her name is Lori Bassin and I am pretty sure she takes Health Partners. If you are interested, PM me for her number. Or if you are looking for someone who specializes with bariatric patients, I've heard the Emily program has people who specialize with that.
Good luck!!!
Michelle ;)
