I sincerely DID do this primarily for my health, to stick around for my kids.  I have diabetes (may be instructed to discontinue insulin at the end of the month - i pray!!), had high blood pressure, a tendency to spring hernias from my various surgeries, and joint aches and pains like you wouldn't believe.  Getting around was a serious issue - I COULD, but dang!  Pain, dread, sweat, yuck. I had come to assume, and ACCEPT, that I would die very young.  Like in my 50's (which is just around the corner!).  I've been obese my entire life, so I've never had a clue what it was like to be anything BUT obese, so it wasn't the least bit about returning to some former svelt glory. THAT HAVING BEEN SAID, I absolutely LOVE being a more "normal" size!!!  I've always been vain enough to do my make-up and hair to the best of my ability, to downplay the negative aspects of my size.  So to have a body that can wear whatever clothes I want?  to no longer feel my legs rub together?  to be able to hold a drink between my legs while driving my car because there is actually ROOM there?  It's all fabulous!  A bonus to getting healthier!

Hey Sweetheart!  Reading your story brought tears to my eyes!!  You have done such a wonderful job!!  I too am praying that diabetes is gone for you!!! What a celebration that will be!!!   I was overweight my whole life, only obese for the past 12 years.  My health was on the verge of deteriating and oh so much better now! But I "mainly" had RNY to get rid of the fat!  I only thought I could get down to 150 and would be happy....so wow, what a bonus that I am below!! For whatever reasons people have WLS, they have had it and need to follow the rules is what my main point was!! Love and Hugs

Slightly high jacking . Thanks everyone for your post. I am glad I saw it. I am about 4 months out from surgery due to a huge waiting list in my area and I keep having the last meal feeling. I have not been on track with the Practicing the better eating habits, the mindful eating , slowing down and trying to not over eat no exercising . I know I can start now and start my better habits that will just help more when I have the surgery but I have needed a kick in the arse. So thank you all for your great post. I have been really hard on myself about this and really needed to own up to myself . I just needed to reach out and get some encouragment.  So any kicks in the arse are welcomed. Steel toed boots need not apply!!!  LOL Jill

I admit it.....and I also don't wanna embarrass my kids any more than I already have....sheesh

I do know, particuarly with my DS but indeed with ALL the surgeries - the rules are critical....and if any of you catch me slipping - feel free to kick away - now that doesn't mean you can kick me just coz you wanna *looks at Darla*

Love you guys!!!!

PS: Nope, still no word yet - I should know something definite by the 25th of this month at the latest!
