Lost control

For me, a friend is what helped me get back on track. She follows the OA-HOW program and is extremely strict - NO SUGAR or WHITE FLOUR! She also showed me how easy it can be to eat right. Every night she eats a protein, starch, veggie and fruit. She makes fish, chicken, pork, steak in her George Foreman grill and then the other stuff in the microwave.
Not sure if you read my post, but last week I made 3 resolutions and I've already dropped 5 pounds and I'm still allowing myself to have some treats.
I love these new steamer packs - veggies and rice (I even LOVE eating BROWN rice now) and I eat the rice because I won't feel "satisfied" unless I have a little carb with my meal. So far it's working well.
My thing is that when I'm hungry I want to eat now - doing these simple meals that are well balanced has really helped me stay on track.
Just remember that you won't be successful until something "clicks" in your brain to make another successful go at it. Just like when you finally came to the conclusion to have the surgery - there just came the time that it made sense to do it. But also remember that until that time comes you can't beat yourself up every day - that will only serve to contribute to your emotional eating binges.
So try all of the things that the others have wisely suggested and then remind yourself that you're human and you will go through these eb and flows of being really good and then falling off the wagon. Try and love yourself no matter where you're at and you'll be TEN times more successful!
Good luck! This surgery isn't the easy way out - it's hard - but you came to the conclusion that you needed surgery and you will eventually come to the conclusion that you need to be on track again! IT WILL HAPPEN!!! YOU CAN DO IT!
Sorry for the rambling....I just know where you've been. If you want to talk anytime...call me 612.839.4937.
Take care!

Your story sounds very familiar, as I am dealing with the same thing. For months 1-5 I was doing great I had lost 100 pounds and was cruising right along, then I hit a wall and boom all of my disordered eating habits and ways of dealing with stress came flooding back. It has taken 3 1/2 months but I think I am finally back on track now. What did it take, well I have a fellow WLS friend whom I email everyday with my food intake, exercise and water. I also started seeing a therapist who specializes in working with bariatric patients and I am seeing a nutritionist more frequently as well. Beyond that it has been the sheer will to get off these last 35 pounds and reach my goal by my 1 year anniversary. I have also joined a new gym where I can go anytime day or night (accessed by key card) and today started my new routine of working out in the morning before work so that there are no excuses for not getting my exercise in. I have also gone back to the limited sugar so do most things SF or reduced sugar and also watch my carb intake. If it is any consolation my therapist told me that most people experience this at the 6-9 month point it is just some are more intense than others. For me it comes from almost 18 years of disordered eating habits and some issues with my family dynamics. I hope this helps and if you would like more info or just some one to listen feel free to PM me I am not on as much as I used to be, but will try to check in at least once a day. I hope you will be able to find what works for you to return to the good habits you had earlier.
Love & Hugs!

I haven't walked in your shoes... yet. My surgery isn't for another month+. Having said that, maybe go back to the "basics"? Three meals a day, 60% protein, drink water in between meals (up to 30 minutes before your meal and then resume 30 minutes after your meal). Also, don't get emotionally hung up on trying to reach a specific number. Take stock of the health benefits you have already achieved. Also, have you thought of going to the support groups that work with WLS patients who are reaching the end of their "one year" weight loss window and who are now hitting their new set point - in terms of their new weight?
Finally, do you exercise? You should try to work up from walking to jogging. I'll bet the remaining weight you think you should lose will fly off!
Good luck!

It's 11 months for me and I find that I can eat more... so do I regulate? nope... I'm making insane choices and am having a heck of a time reining in. I'm in a "feel sorry for myself" time...
What to do? Just what everyone is saying... get yourself *ME TOO!* back to the basics...
A big thing for me is getting back on here... I fall away and then drift further and further into the mire...
A *HUG* for luck - you can do it... WE all can do it!!!
Maybe it's time for the I WILL posts again...
*hugs*
