I Did It!! Six Days Post-Op...
I have my one week checkup tomorrow, and actually can't believe I've been on liquids only for an entire week. Ha ha. I tried to coach my boyfriend on how to post for me that surgery went well, but I gave up and decided to just do it myself once I was feeling better.
Thank you everyone for all of your encouragement and support when I was so nervous pre-op. Surgery was surprisingly simple. The worst things, I would say, were the dry mouth after surgery, the bloated stomach (still is, a bit), and those darn nurses taking vitals every 2 hours in the hospital. Other than that, I'm doing fine, getting my walks in - in this GORGEOUS fall weather - and sip, sip, sipping the day away! I will be excited to see if I have lost any weight when I go to the doctor tomorrow. I hope I have, just so I can get a little encouragement that I did the right thing and that the surgery is working. Silly, I know, but every pound helps!
Thanks again everyone...I will keep you all posted as to my progress, because I know that this board is a wonderful place to share. Everyone's story encourages someone!

Thank you so much for the well wishes! It's still hard to believe I've actually had my surgery and positive changes are coming. It's still sinking in, I think. I know one day I will be able to look back at these difficult times right after surgery and they will just be a memory - kinda like childbirth - as soon as you hold that little precious bundle you forget all the pain. As soon as I feel comfortable and healthy in my body, I will forget this liquid diet and bloating! Ha ha.
CONGRATS on facing your fears and going ahead with surgery! You are on your way to a better life in SOOOO many ways!
Just wanted to give you a heads-up before your one week post-op check up tho. (I WISH someone had warned me about this so I wouldn't have been in such SHOCK!) Because of the IV fluids & all, sometimes you'll actually be UP at your one-week post-op! NOT what you want to see! But just know that it's a possibility. I was NINETEEN FREAKIN' POUNDS UP for mine!
But I had a little extra work done on a hernia and adhesions, and spent 3 nights in the hospital instead of two... PLUS, I was pretty close to getting all my 64 oz. of water in right off the bat! The nice thing was that at my one month post-op, I had dropped something like 34 pounds since that 1 week post op!
Let us know how it goes!!!

Holy Buckets, Darla! I'm glad you warned me. I feel really bloated still so I wouldn't be surprised - but I've actually been pooping (if you can call it that!) and drinking darn close to my 64 oz a day, so maybe it won't be up that much, but at least now I'm prepared. Thanks for the tip!
Jodi, Hi! Good to hear from you. I wish I was out riding right now too. All of my friends are hauling to the parks up here and riding. It's the best time of year. Nice and cool, beautiful scenery, and NO BUGS! Next year for sure though!!

Good luck with your 1 week check tomorrow. Can't wait to hear about your progress, and I hope you get to see a small drop on the scale for emotional reasons. Good thing you've received the warning that you may be up this soon after. Better to know just in case. Please post again tomorrow.

START: 325 Day of Surgery :309 GOAL: 180

Hey all, just thought I would post, I was down 9 lbs. at my appointment yesterday! Whew. I was 240 on the nose, so that was a relief. Of course, I'm sitting here thinking about how much more I have to lose, rather than the fact that I started at 268 on my initial consultation and I've lost almost 30 lbs. Now I see what everyone means when they say that they still feel fat when they've lost a lot of weight. It just seems like a number, but it is still an accomplishment.
