Second, I just brought this up to my couselor. Their reply was this...You are needing to be healthy. You are a priority because if you weren't, then what would they do? Talk to your family. Talk to your husband, if you are married. Discuss your needing to shore up your behaviour, "rebuild the wall that has gotten overrun with weeds and is in disrepair". Then they can give you good ideas, or someone else can come up with fun snacks.
I know what it is like to dive into the snacks. I've done it. But now...let that be your past. Reframe that picture in your mind, how does it look? Now make it what it should be.
Hope this helps...
I have to send a snack daily with my oldest son, who is in Kindergarten. I buy fruit snacks, boxed raisens, granola bars, nuts... not so bad snacks for him, but things I am not interested in eating. Just keep the LIttle Debbie's etc. out of your house :o) I find avoiding the real crap at the grocery store helps me AND will prevent my boys from having weight issues of their own.
Hope that helps!

I don't have kids.. but spent most of my highschool nannying after school for some...
On the flip side, Remind yourself that the kids health and feeding them "healthy" snacks to not lead them down the road of obesity is just as important as you not eating the "junk"to battle it... keep that in mind. If you only buy healthy snacks for them, you'll only be tempted by healthy ones. Veggies and dip. Veggies and pb. make it fun, make ants on a log. carrot sticks and dip. Granola bars. Natural low sugar fruit snacks or wraps. apples and a drizzle of caramel over them to eat. Raisins. Make your own trail mix... or granola.
I know its tough.. and yes kids deserve to have treats too (but as do we from time to time) but if you present a healthy eating plan for them, you're leading their path for healthy lifestyles.
Go mom!
I like the ideas posted by the rest of the folks, I will try that with hubby as well. Best wishes for healthy snacking. Hugs, Kathy

Marsha, another thing I thought of that works for me, (but I don't know how old your kids are), is to avoid taking them to the grocery store with you. I know my 5 year old asks for ALL the bad stuff when he is with me at the store, and it's SOOOO easy for me to give into him :o)
