I am new here!
Hi Everyone!! I am Atousa and a mom to 3 children 2, 3 and 6 years old. I have gone through the 3 months of nut appts and now just waiting to do my sleep study and then it goes to my insurance!! I am so excited to have a new life and the energy to keep up with my kids :) I should have my date in a month or so!
I do have a couple questions....one being I am a big-time emotional eater. I am so afraid that I'll lose the weight and then emotionally eat my way to being fat again! for those of you that have had the surgery and were like me, an emotional eater. What are you doing to continue to have success? I also LOVE food and think about it all the time and worry that this behavior isn't going to change after surgery! I need some reassurance!!
I am a person where knowledge is power so I know I will be here A LOT in the coming weeks, months and years!! I also know I will being going to every available support group possible :)
Thank you all in advance,
Atousa

Hi Atousa,
The best place/way to start dealing with the emotional eating issue is to seek out a counselor who is trained to deal with bariatric problems, eating disorders. Journal your foods and the emotions you are feeling as you are eating. Come here to post before thinking of doing any emotional eating. Got to work on the source of the emotional eating. The appetite is gone for a while after surgery. But the surgery does not touch your brain and why things are going this way.
Going to the support groups is a great idea, as is coming here to OH for support. Hope to hear more from you as you progress through the process. Hugs, Kathy

Welcome to the MN boards. Congrats on getting on your way to a healthier you!!
Being almost 2 years out there are times that I eat when I'm bored or frustrated but I have to say that its much more controlled than in the past and I make better choices at those moments. I don't want you to think that it will never happen that you will turn to food. For so long and for so many that was always our backup. You will need to learn to find another outlet for your emotional eating. In the beginning I think its easier as you have so many things to focus on. As time goes on it think it tends to creepy up on you.
With that being said it happens not always for me but once and a great while. This surgery for me as been the best thing I have done for me and for my family. Life is certainly different!!
Wishing you all the best as you move foward on your journey.

Welcome, Atousa!
Our kids are about the same age, I have all boys, 2, 4, and 5 years old. It will NOT be easy for us, I'm sure, needing to take good care of our little ones and of ourselves as well!
BUT I KNOW WE CAN DO IT!!!!
Hope you find the support and encouragement on this board to help you reach a new healthy you! Best of luck!
