Had full hysterectomy last year and got thrown face first into Menopause!  Hot Flash city!  Anyone have any experience with this.  Will getting some of the extra weight off help?

I can't speak for everybody, but it turns out nearly ALL of my hot flashes were from the weight!   I haven't had any since RNY.   None!   No sweating and beet red face in crowds of people.  What a relief!

Best of luck to you!

I had a full hysterectomy in Dec of last year, and went into menopause - which was expected since they took my ovaries.  I have used the estrogen patch as well as a cream, together and separately.  Hot flashes are better after losing the weight, but you still might need some estrogen - if nothing else than to help with calcium absorption.

Thanks everyone!  I have to watch my Estrogen as my sister has an estrogen fed breast cancer, so I can only have a little and then need to try and get off of it.  I sure hope shedding 100 lbs will help.  I'm tired of sweating!  And I know people don't entirely "get it" and think I'm just sweating because I'm heavy!

Now if I can just get approval and a surgical date.  I meet with Dr Benn on the 11th!
