3-week Post Op Appt - disappointing
I had my post op appt yesterday. They couldn't get me in 3 weeks after, so scheduled me 4 weeks. I got weighed (down 31 pounds including pre-op 2-week liquid diet) and not much was said about it. Then met with the surgeon's nurse who taught me how to give myself B-12 shots, and spent a total of maybe 7 minutes with me.
Then I met with the perky young Nutritionist who told me I was on the "low side of average" with my weight loss and wondered if I was hungry that I needed a snack besides the protein drink. I told her I eat lunch at 11:30 and supper at 6:30 or later, and thought I was supposed to snack in between. She said yes - that is too long to go without eating. I told her I was using Isopure mixed with water in the morning for the protein and she thought maybe I should use it for my snack, instead. She looked at my calories (I use the log on OH) and said that she doesn't usually check calories, but mine were a bit higher (they range from 550-700). I told her I err on the side of more than less when I'm not sure of the amount. OK, fine, whatever. I had the feeling she just wanted to move me on out.
I guess it was a letdown because I so expected them to celebrate my success and the fact that I'm following the rules to a "T". I know I'm an "over achiever" and that my age (57) and inability to exercise much at this point enters in, but still. I guess I have to use my other support for cheerleading. You've all been so supportive - thanks!

Thanks, Rick and Linda - you guys are the best. I shouldn't whine - they see people come and go all the time, so it would probably get old for them. I'm doing great and love the support. Don't hurt yourself doing the splits, Linda! LOL

2014 update...regained but haven't lost faith.
Ya know what I think? I think those nurses just become rather complacent. What might excite us and make US proud is just another patient to them.
NEXT!
Screw that. You are doing GREAT!!! Just keep doing EXACTLY what you're doing, that weight will fall off you, you'll FEEL better, BE healthier, and those nurses can just rot in their ignorance. THEY are the ones missing out on the excitement of seeing one of their patients SHRINK before their very eyes!!!
