WOW: No more PCOS

Another light of hope during this dark time for me.

I went to the doctor today and had my levels checked. At 304.5lbs, I was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS). In my doctor's opinion, it was a huge contributor to why I had such a hard time keeping the weight off.

Well, the levels are VERY normal now. Though there is some controversy as to whether someone can be cured of PCOS or not.... my doctor told me I am... especially if I keep up with the weight loss.

It's a great feeling to know that I am rid of this. It's nice to know my levels are normal and will give me an opportunity (some day a long time from now, lol) to have a healthy pregnancy.

Good for you Elena.  Take lights of hope wherever you can get them.

I was off the boards for 2 weeks and just got caught up last night.  Holy crap....hang in there kiddo and may you soon find some peace.  Take care.

Congratulations on your great news!  Most of my PCOS symptoms are going w/ the excess weight, too.  Keep up the great work.

That is awesome news.  I too suffered from PCOS and now can say that I have "a happy period", if that can ever be a  true statement.

Wonderful news, Elena!

As a fellow "soul cyster" I cannot wait to ditch the major symptoms when this weight starts to come off. Right now I am suffering MAJOR pain, and with my RNY happening in 3 days, I know a FREAKIN' BAD period is going to hit during one of the most important weeks of my life.

My PCOS forced me to turn to a fertility doc to get pregnant my first time. No fun giving yourself shots, timing your cycles down to the hour, etc. Bottom line was my PCOS messed up my insulin and going on Metformin (for diabetics) and dropping just 20 pounds (along with the shots) got us PG on the first try.  Three boys under 5 later... I'm done! :o)

But SO HAPPY for you that you will likely never have to see help for infertility because of your weight! CONGRATS!!!
