HELP!need medicare Dr and hospital!

Ok going to post again ,do not know what happened to my original post I am looking for a surgeon and hospital for a man who lives in Farmington Mo. that accepts Medicare He says he has found hospitals but cannot find a surgeon who will accept Medicare for weight loss surgery He is very frustrated and i feel so bad for him any help would be greatly appreciated.. thank you Arianna

the only one in the state of Missouri is in Sedalia. Doctor Hornbostel wonderful wonderful surgeon. He is one of the best surgeons around. and he does do medicare and the Hospital altho is small is a medicare hospital with Certificate of Excelence. If he wants this he needs to go to the next seminar that The Doctor holds which is Sept 5th at 6pm in Sedalia at the Bothwell hospital. That is his first step to be getting an appointment for a consult. Jan

Good morning Jan Mlllsey sent me a reply and he said he called Dr Hornbostel's office yesterday and the nurse told him they do not operate on anyone over 450lb this man is 6ft 3 and weighs 590lb!!! she said their equipment would not hold him!! I just asked him how old he is I am waiting for him to get back to me, he said there is No hope for him I told him not to give up we can continue looking there must be something out there! wish I could help him in some way I met this man on OH on lap band forum I have not had my lap band surgery yet cause I just had gall bladder operation and if my tummy heals I am going in for lap band in oct or Nov ( same surgeon) I dont think though they will do lap band on someone who is that big probably be an RNY IF we can find a surgeon willing to do it.. From what I have found out, if you are ONLY covered by Medicare then you can have your surgery in any state, not just Missouri. What I mean is that if you live near the state border and you can't find a surgeon in Missouri, you can try the next state over. If you have something like Medicaid as a suplimental insurance (to cover what Medicare doesn't) as I do, they wont cover their part if you go out of state.
