Sunday Morning Whats Happening:
Good Morning Everyone:
Okay it is just down right cold this morning!!!! I slept all snuggled in my electric blanket last night and was toasty warm until my feet hit the floors. BBBbbbbrrrrrrrr Too cold for me but DH is loving it. He is going out hunting today w/ his friend. I am going to hang out at the house and do laundry and cook a roast today.
Looks like were going to have a busy day on the 14 of Nov here on the board. We have 2 new friends joining the losers bench. And I finally get my hernia repair fixed
Boy oh boy are were going to be keeping those gaurdian angels busy between Springfield, MO to Sedilia, MO to Columbia, MO.
Also please say a prayer for Janet she goes back up to Columbia, MO on the 24th of this month. She has everything done or will by the time she get up there on the 24th. All she needs is a date. I am praying for the same date as mine. Were both from the same area. It would be nice if we could be up there together. (Big Grin)
Well I hope you all have a good day. Stay warm!!!
Love ya'll
Melissa

WOW, Mel Mel, three people to pray for and cross everything for that DAY.... I am going to ******vous wreck til I hear about everyone...and that they are okay....
You already KNOW TERRY HAS TO CALL ME ASAP right??????
I never know if I should tell about Janet C. or not, as I don't know what she wants people to know....
She had another flub up on that bloodwork on friday and will have to have it done in Columbia this coming week, in order to be "square" on everything....
The Joplis docs and healthcare sounds like the same low quality we have here in the bootheel....
I don't go ANYWHERE around here except I still see my childhood pediatrician...YES!, that's what I said, he's treated me since I was 3. He's 89, and I love him. He's about 5 foot tall and looks like that famous doctor in the portrait by Normal Rockwell, where the doctor is listening to the little girl's babydoll's "heart" with his stethyscope.....
Exactly like that doctor, kinda earie really....lol
Momma Jan: I was 258 on surgery day, and weighed 236 yesterday, so that's 22 pounds in 3 weeks and 1 day.
After fighting with wackee out taste buds, then a terrible soar and swollen and infected throat, I FINALLY found a "concoction" that I can drink....
ALLLLLLL the things I loved prior to WLS taste terrible now
I couldn't even drink the protein drink I made yesterday, it was "bitter" and it wasn't the milk, I checked.
BOYS HIDE YOUR EYES:
Here's my Tea: Take (1) Lipton Cold Brew Tea bag, roll it up like aaaaahhh, tampon
and put it in one chilled bottle of Dasani water, pushing the roll down, and the string, leaving the "paper label" out, twist on lid....and put back in the fridge for 2 hours...
YES, I know it says 3 minutes on the label...but, again, I can't drink ANYTHING....I tried tea about 50 ways this week, and this WORKS for me.
At two hours, get a shaker cup, add 1/2 full of ice, I add (1) packet of "True Lime" it's lime juice crystals...no sugar OF COURSE......then I add 3 Sweet & Lows and 2 Equals (((I know, I know.....but I have tested and tested this all week)))))
Open tea bottle and pour over mixture, add shaker lid and shake the "tar" out of this....
FINALLY something I can swallow...All the Crystal Lites, teas - hot and cold, coffees, ((Decaf))) syrups, Dasani water, Gatorade Rain (less sugar) juice....all taste VIAL.....
I have been so worried I wouldn't find something.....I kept drinking the terrible tasting stuff, in fear of dehydration.
Eating has been just as bad, and I finally found something that taste well enought to eat, 1/2 cup of vanilla sugar free yogurt, mixed with no sugar added applesauce, and 2 splendas, kinda looks like a baby food I gave Dylan when he was a baby....
I had one of those, and chicken broth yesterday...which tastes like old men socks right now....
I am sure my terrible taste issue is my infected throat....and I wonder if I've had this ALL along, as I felt terrible 2 days PRIOR to surgery, and fluish, etc.... I bet I did have it then....
When I get tonsilitus, it lasts forever....
This friday I get to add toast and those type items....1/2 a piece of toast and a poached egg sounds delish....
I did look at the calendar, and I was suprised that I will be at week 8 for Thanksgiving, and able to eat anything except for: raisans, nuts, and red meat....
which I don't think there will be any of that in the feast, I will just have a teaspoon of items that are SUGAR FREE, and be estatic....WOOT WOOT
You guys may not know that I didn't get to spend Thanskgiving with my family for 14+ years, so this is a real THANKS-GIVING for me....we are going to 1/3 out the dishes so Mom, my sister Shan nor I end up spending the whole day slaving alone....
I am making the 7 layer dip appetizer, a pear, walnut and endive salad, that famous corn casserole, and a sugar free dessert of some time for me.....
Shan will do a huge veggie tray, mushroom puff pinwheels (I taught her that one) appetizer, this amazing pineapple casserole, ....
Mom does the Turkey, Dressing, potatoes and a sugar rich dessert.....
We will all help w/ the deviled eggs, and easy veggies, i.e. peas, green beans, etc...
YUM YUM YUM....
Did I make everyone as hungry as I am now?
Sorry....
OH! I go to Columbia for my 1 month follow up NEXT Sunday, kinda bummed out, as I will JUST be missing Mel Mel and Janet by days

Wow Nov. 14th is gonna be a busssssssssssssssssssssy day!! Alan in springfield, Melissa and myself all having surgery....sheeeeeeeeeesh LoL That's also Colette's one year aniversary, hopefully she'll get to stop by after she see's Dr. H and we'll party after I come outta the stooper they'll put me in

Good Sunday to you all!
Started my day with my a.m. palates! Felt great!!!!! Went to first church service and in reference to something Claudette brought up in her above entry....we learned about VIP's(very inspirational people!) and VDP's(very draining people) today.
I just have to say that I am blessed to have such great WLS VIP's in my life!! I think our Monday Circle of Friend's group is going to be just FULL of VIP's!!!!!!! Can't wait!!!
And I've got FAITH that this is going to be what we all have been needing!! We also learned today they FAITH is giving THANKS in advance, cause you know God is going to come through for you! : )
Pumpkin carving will begin soon in my house! As will getting out a few lights and stuff. Boy I'm slow at that this year!!!
Working on some laundry as well! Fun fun!! I've down loaded some recent photos though, from the last few weekends and plan to add some to my profile later on.
Take care everyone! See ya tomorrow!
Tami
Good Sunday to Jan and the Missouri Board,
We too, started our day with Sunday School and Church this morning....and Yes, I agree.....what a blessing our church and church families are.
When I was waiting for my surgery, my SS class prayed for me every Sunday....(which went on for months, because St. Johns was trying to get the bariatrics program started)
They were sooo supportive and they still are. What a wonderful group of people and Jess and I are so blessed to be a part of them. God certainly placed us in with a great group.
Jan, you asked if I was one of the first ones to have the surgery in Springfield. Actually, I was "the" first one to have the surgery in Springfield. At the time I had my surgery, Dr. Hodges had done somewhere around 240 surgeries, but I was his first here in Springfield.
Also, Jan....Just fyi...I wanted to mention....my name is Glenna, not Glenda. (no "d")......that is a common mistake. Glenda seems to be much more common than Glenna.
Oh and the mocha drink that Claudette gave you the recipe for. Take my word for it.....it is deelish!! Ever since Claudette gave me the recipe, I have at least one a day. Even at almost 2 1/2 years out, it still is very helpful for me to have a protein shake to help me get in all the protein I need. Plus, when you find one you enjoy, it's a treat. I have played with the protein powders since the beginning and I have several mixtures that I like.
On the exercise question. I wish I could tell you that I do an exersice routine everyday.....but can't do that. I've heard some patients say that they love to exercise after surgery......but I'm not one of them. Having the surgery didn't change my hate for exercise. So I continue to work on that.
Speaking of mocha shake.......my dh just made one for me. What a guy! lol
See you tomorrow night at the Circle of Friends. And yes, your dh needs to come at least once.....if he comes once, he'll have such a good time he'll want to come back. lol
ttyl
Glenna
Tracey...... thanks......nice to meet you too. Will you be able to come to the new Circle of Friends Support Group in Springfield tomorrow night? I'm looking forward to meeting several of you in person.
Tami....I like the new picture. I put one up that I happen to have. It's not the best picture, but it's better than nothing. I need to have Jess take a better one of me. I'll work on that.
See ya'
Glenna
