Ice and power outages....

Hello everyone. I know it has been a few days since I have posted. Things have been crazy here. My internet has been acting funny. We lost all power at about 3:30 this morning. I woke up to a COLD house. Not good for the itty bitties. The power didn't come back on until this afternoon. Then it would stay on for a bit and then cut out for awhile. My daughter and I took off to the laundry-mat to do some laundry and come to find out, the whole tri-city area was out. So far, the power has been on for a good 4-5 hours. Let's hope it stays that way. We still have a ton of ice on the power lines and trees are still falling left and right. I hope everyone is keeping safe and warm in this weather. At least I am not driving in it and at least it isn't as bad as it was when I had my surgery!! At least I can laugh abot that now. Anyway, I weighed myself this morning and my scale said 230. I just weighed myself a few minutes ago and it said 232 and I am wearing jeans, a long sleeve shirt, all my under garments, and a pair of slippers, so I am thinking that in the morning I will be in the 220's!!! Wouldn't that be fantastic? I think it would be. So far since surgery I have lost 31 pounds and 41 since my consut in October. I think it is amazing. My clothes are all getting way to big now. I went and bought a long sleeve shirt because all my other ones cover my hands now. Low and behold, what did I do? I only bought one size smaller than what I normally wear and it is to big!! I could have gone 2 sizes smaller. My inches are going faster than my weight. I know I could possibly be losing faster, but I am still not able to work out as much as I should be doing because of my back. It will take me some time before I can work out the way I want to and I will have to get my doctors approval, but for now, I walk as much as I can. I am not complaining at all. Where I am now is so much better than where I was, and I am doing better than I ever thought I would. Anyway, I am going to close for now because the power is "flckering" again and I do not want to lose this post. I hope everyone is staying warm and safe in this crummy weather!!!

Hi Kat, Well Gretta tried to out do you in weather and lost. We do have about 2" of sleet maybe more. But so far not anything like before and we haven't lost power yet. Glad to hear about you weight loss. That is fantastic!!! Gretta and I are anxious to see you the 23rd. I don't know if she got her date for that day but if not I will try to see if she can meet us anyway. I have been on the vitamin regimen and started my protein shakes to try, and I do mean try to get used to. They are so filling and it is hard to get used to. I did a strawberry sorbet from "unjury" today with water, ice and fresh strawberries. Then I added some lemon water and it was good. Not sickening sweet like the vanilla I tried.I do hope they call me if they have a cancellation. I have everything but the "liquid dynamite in the green bottle".Just waiting on the call to pick my pre-op testing and I am good to go.I have to move and we are trying to get everything ready so if the apartment we are trying to get comes ready then we will be set.We are moving to Sedalia because they are closing or selling the complex. We should know which in a couple of weeks.Take care. Julia

Dear Sweet Julia.... Reading how you are having to move, w/ 2 surgeries on the horizon makes me sad for you...very sad. I thought it would kill me when I had to put my Atlanta home on the market, quite my job, leave my friends, town and lifestyle behind. Depression, (((Which I'd NEVER had)))) nearly did me in when I first came back to my childhood hometown. Gosh, even saying it now, I remember the depair. But, I am telling you of my pain, to let you know that this time last year was devastating, and I just laid in my bed, and wanted to fade away..... Now, I learned about, and had WLS, the only real ailments I am left with are bone pains, and the occasional migraine, down from about 12 major health issues. My Atlanta house sold, I got out of debt, bought a way NICER home, 9 houses and two bends away from my parental units!! The puppies love have a flat, fenced yard, I am at peace. My neighbors even call my parents when I am gone over night ((((when I have to go to Columia for hospital/doctor visits)))) I do NOT go out over night, besides then... Honest...I am not a skamp...LOL I am more of a NERD...wishing to be a skamp every now and again, I guess...LOL Grass is always greener right? LOL I am just kidding, hoping it makes you laugh. I know you will have everything work out on the moving thing....I just know it. You'll be TOTALLY FINE..... Keep us posted! Sherr

Thanks Sherr, I know everything will work out. I am too close to WLS!!!. I have moved so many times in my life that it is second hand anymore. My sister and I can move in one day easy. We have done it so often and I am downsized to a small one bedroom apt. now.I worry more about the fianaces since I am on disability. But I do appreciates the caring thoughts. Julia

KAT, You are doing so well. It makes me sad to hear you could be w/o power again. Especially w/ little ones. That is another reason I am so thankful for moving back to my childhood hometown. I live 9 houses away from my parents. My teenager has a 4 x 4 truck, so no matter WHAT comes this way, we have a plan to all meet at my parents, and hunker down. They have a gas stove that is installed in the den, for "emergencies" only. Our plan is to all get in that room and stay toasty. LOL It's ALWAYS good to have a plan..lol. One time in Atlanta, we lost power for 3 days once, I had to put on as many of my clothes that I could, put a mini-poodle under my coat and lay down w/ about 15 blankets over me...LOL...it saved me and the 2 puppies lives tho, we kept each other warm for those 3 days..... LOL Take care, and please check in with us, so we know you and your babes are okay! Oh, & you ALREADY KNOW how proud we are of your Weight Loss, right? I hope you know!!! Sherr
