Hi, my name is Phyllis, I live in Overland Park, Ks. There is not much talking in ks. I am wondering about eatting salads with lettuce. I go to the Dr. Wed. for my first fill, I think it will be anyway. I have more problems of what to eat and how much to get in protien. Maybe someone can tell me. I had my surgery Dec. 19, 06. Lap Band Thanks, Phyllis

Phyllis, Can't help you re the lettuce, I'm RNY and we don't eat lettuce until 5-6 months out. BUT, I wanted to say welcome to the Missouri board and join us anytime. Right now there are more RNY people on our board but there are starting to be more Lap Banders so you will find more and more help I'm sure. Or, you can become one of our band experts!!! Lana

Thanks for your reply. I guess I can ask my Dr. They are talking about snow in the KC area Wed. That is when my apt. is. I don't drive well in snow. Hope I don't miss my apt. I did very well after my surgery. But I'm having more trouble in knowing what to eat and how much. I wish some one would write a book with menus and How to eat it. I guess I'm a dummy but it does have me confused. I have a hard time getting my water in also. I guess I will work it out some how, I have lose 27 lbs. I am 67 years old, soon 68 I don't know if it makes any difference or not. I haven't heard of too many my age haveing weight loss surgery. But if I want to live much longer I had to have it. I am 5' tall and weighted 249 when I had surgery. Sorry to go on and on. Have a good day. Phyllis

Have you tried the lap-band forum? Maybe they can help. Good luck! Hugs Barbara

Phyllis thanks for asking this question. since most of us are rny we dont know a lot about lap bands but we are getting more all the time and i am anxious to know how your foods differ from ours. I was 65 when i had my surgery so there are more of us youngens out there than might be expected. On the over 50 board there are a lot of us on there that are over 60 so we arent the only ones. Hope you keep coming back and let us know what you find out on the lettuce for you. I have been eating salads for about a month now and they taste so very very good to me. Jan
