This is my first post as well. My surgery is schedule for Feb. 21st. I am so excited to get my life back on track. I feel as if I have been sleepwalking for the past 20 years. I am thrilled to find this site. I have been reading posts for several days and they have help "cement" in my mind that I am doing the right thing. Thanks to all for their positive encouragement to others.
Hi Melissa and WELCOME.....
The waiting is definitely the HARDEST part...the anticipation and the delays-we know!! Thats what we are here for-cause we do understand all of that.
So....details....Dr? what type of surgery and where? I bet someone here has gone where your going etc.. this is a great place to be-and this board is one of the best EVER!!
Nice to meet ya, and look forward to getting to know you. Jan
Melissa and Sue,
Welcome to the Missouri board. These are the nicest, most loving, compassionate, people you'll ever meet. We are a family!!! No flaming on this board, just under-standing and caring. Ask any questions, someone probably has been there. Know the waiting is hard, I had to complete a 6 month diet/exercise program before my surgery and it seemed so long and then it was over and now I'm over 5 weeks out. Feeling so much better, diabetes type II gone, no hypertension, lower cholesterol. Just feel like a new person. You'll be so glad. Hugs and love,
Lana
Hello Tami, Lana, Jan, Sue, Vesta, Janet, and Melissa and everyone else. Thank you for the warm welcome. I can't tell you how touched I am that you all responded soooo quickly.
Let me start by telling you a little about myself. I am 35. I live in Fulton, MO and work at the VA hospital in Columbia. I am married to my soul-mate, Scott, and we have two wonderful kids, Andrew 15, and Victoria 10. Plus my three furry babies, KC -choc lab, Chiko -blind jack russell terrier, and last but not least Leo - the cat.
My journey started August 2006 when I went to my first seminar. I got my insurance approval, first letter, on January 22-07. I have FEBH Bluechoice. I am waiting for my PFT's to be scheduled and to see Hematology, pending that I have to complete a weekend seminar and then my final appt. with my surgeon, Dr. de la Torre, Missouri Bariatric Services, then I'll get my surgery date. It feels like forever but I feel like I've made it over the first hurdle getting the insurance approval. Anyway, just thought I'd drop a line and say hello again and Thanks!
