I have a date
Tara,
WOO HOO!!! I'm so happy for you. Dr. Edwards is super awesome, I just love him to death. You are going to do fine. The hospital is great, ask for a private room, it is only $25 more and we only stay two days so it is well worth it. Mine was really big and it was so nice to shut the door and sleep without someone else in the room. I had a real problem with that before. Do watch your food trays. They brought me apple juice, which makes everyone dump, Glucerna, which has too many sugars, etc.
I mostly just ate the broth and the sugar free jello. You won't be hungry anyway and it's better to be safe. They did have Crystal Lite if you don't like just plain water. I didn't complain, just didn't eat what I didn't think was right. I stayed two nights and I think, for me, that was the right thing to do. I wanted to be sure I could sleep on a flat bed, like at home, and on my side, because that's how I usually sleep. Dr. Edwards said I could stay another night if I felt like I wanted to but I felt OK with coming home after two nights. They do have all the good meds at the hospital so it's easier to keep pain under control there. Also, be careful with the liquid Vicodin. I passed out twice taking it. I took the max dose and would just fall over. Quit taking it after the second time. I'm a slow learner!!! You are so close to surgery. Eat your pre-surgery liquid diet. I lost 15 pounds in the two weeks I was on it and Dr. E said I had a beautiful liver, sick man!!! We'll all be praying for you. Do you have an angel to post after your surgery? Let me know if you need me to do that for you. Hugs and love.
