Can anyone recomend a mind quack for my pyschological assessment, someone that's easy and won't try to pick you a part and tell you how bad your upbringing was....
I'm still trying to get a date, jumping through the hoops and getting all kinds of crap thrown at me that my insurance has to pay for, oxygen therapy, Bipap machine. I only have two more tests, the psych test and a chemical stress test (fun fun) before I can talk to the doctor again!
Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated from Springfield to Columbia.
Thanks, Bob.
Hi Bob,
I used Dr. Keith Vunesky 417-881-3759 he was very nice, and didn't pick me apart...he did give me a personality test (on a computer) and an IQ test (which was kinda fun) the appt was long, but worth it, because it fufilled one more step towards my goal of surgery.... he's in springfield by the way....

Hey Bob,
I didn't have mine here so I'm not sure who does a good job. But when I went for my psych eval. the only thing req'd was that they questioned me on what I knew of the WLS process, what my expectations were, and they had to say that I was in "reality land" with my expectations, that I knew this was no quick fix, and that I had ALOT of work ahead of me. I had no IQ test or personality test.......just a 30min visit. I think some throw in that other stuff to up the bill.
AS for the crap getting thrown at you.....that bipap will save your life as it will prepare your lungs for the long time you'll be under anesthesia...sleep apnea is life threatening....I've known of folks who couldn't get off the respirator post-op 'cause they were not using their cpap or bipap as instructed, so go through the CRAP with a SMILE! : ) Not many more hoops to go!!! You can do it!!!

Hi Bob
I saw Dr. Young-she practices in different towns in MO and in AR-I would NOT recommend her for my dog! I saw her for 4, count them, 4 hours and then had the 500 question test-so I was in her office for 5 hours-she said my report would be done in 7-10 days-and after one month of getting the run around (I will fax it to the surgeon etc-) I went to her office and WAITED while she typed it up-another hour and a half-2 hours later, I FINALLY got it! A lot of the testing she did-had nothing to do with bariatric surgery etc-she asked questions like what is the capital of France? What would you do if you were stranded in the forest? and a lot of touch your nose, point to the door and picture on the wall-so my advice to you-is MAKE sure whomever you see is experienced in bariatric psych evals so they will know what they are doing!! Since there is another post from someone who has had a GOOD experience, you may check them out-I just wanted to tell you WHO NOT TO SEE- GOOD LUCK BOB, the worst is almost over-and then everything will be worth it- Jan
