Missouri Medicaid

Randi --- I was on Missouri Medicaid two years ago when I had my surgery. They do cover RNY but NOT Lap-Band. They require that you have a BMI of 40+, 100 lbs overweight, and if I remember correctly, at least one of the following: diabetes, sleep apnea, high cholesterol/heart disease, high blood pressure, all of which I was dealing with. The process was a quick one for me. I saw Dr. Scott the 7th of April and had approval by the end of May and surgery on June 13th, 2005. Hi! Welcome to the board! I had lapband done 3 years ago and medicaid DID pay for mine. They told me it is decided on a case by case basis. I'm not sure if this is still true. It may have helped that I was already approved for the RNY and I fought for the band in the 11th hour. The day before my surgery the band was approved for me. This is my story.
