Medicare Doctor

I am looking for a Doctor who will take my disability medicare.... thought I had one...I feel like Im getting the run around. this time before I get dissapointed AGAIN I want to have some other options! so I come to ask you all. I am willing to travel. I do not want another summer to go by without something to help me find my life again....Im ready to make those changes...Im not expecting the surgery to do it all for me. Im barely hanging on to hope here. thanks for the vent. nutti

Nutti Who was you seeing sweetie and why do you feel like your getting the run around?? Have you tried either Dr. Scott, Dr Dela Torra, (Columbia & Bridgeton) Dr. Hornbostol,(Sedalia) Dr. Pitt,(Columbia) Dr. Price (Kansas City) Dr. Van Wagner (St. Louis). At the top of the page is find a bariatric surgeon. A map will pop up and just lcik on MO or surrounding state and call and find out. Good luck sweetie your in my thoughts and prayers!!!! This is Dr. Hornbostel in Sedalia. To my knowledge, the only programs which are centers of excellence, AND accept Medicare are in Sedalia, MO (our program) and Norman, OK. (affiliated with the Univ. of Okla). As you may have found already, just because a program is a center of excellence doesn't mean they accept Medicare. If you are truly interested in pursuing this further, I would invite you to attend a free information seminar either in Sedalia or Norman, and then consider your options. Best wishes!

Hi... I have Medicare Disability and Dr Hornbostel in Sedalia did my surgery last month. So I know for sure he won't give you the run around PERIOD... He is THE best surgeon in this area. I would refer Anyone to him because he really cares about his patients. Give his office a call - of course YOU have to attend one of his seminar's held at Bothwell Hospital in Sedalia but beyond that - you shouldn't have any problems, Especially if you have tried many other times to get your weight down. Medicare has it's requirments... to be sure! But if you are like me I've been and done almost all of the requirements before I went to check into WLS. Patricia B

thanks for the boost yall! and ty Dr Hornbostel for responding to me! I have been making a pest of my self at the Dr Office...trying to make sure if I had all of my paperwork in...and now I do. I was told friday she was going to schedual me for the consult and get back with me....I have heard nothing. I didnt call today I seem fairly pathetic and desperate even to myself.... I just dont want to stall out while everything seemed to go soo smoothly. if I dont hear back this weekend whats a 4 hour drive? it cant hurt at this point to check around. I am determined. and I wont cower and give into the depression monster! thanks again! nutti

Nutti go to Dr. Hornbostels seminar on the 1st of May at Bothwell hospital in Sedalia that is the first step to getting into see him. then fill out paper work and send that in they will then call you for you consult to see him. Take all the paper work that you already have done with you . and you couldnt ask for a better surgeon that Dr. Hornbostel. He is absolutly the very best anywhere. I had him do my surgery in August and i feel fantastic. Jan

I live in Springfield, MO area and I went to Barnes Jewish to Dr. Eagon he takes medicare diability that is how I got it done. Barnes is now a center of excellence in bariatric surgery. There also is Dr. Halpin and she is in Eagons office. I have to drive 3 hours but it was worth it. Good luck
