Susan, I felt the same way for a few weeks after my surgery. But when you step on the scale and as the weight comes off and the pain goes away you will feel better. Sherry

Susan you arent alone most everyone has buyers remorse for awhile . You cant get in all the protein and water that you are suppose to get in , you dont feel great, you have pain, your tummy hurts, but keep on keeping on, get in your water, that is the most important part right now. the rest will come later. try walking as much as possible and you should start feeling better soon.Take naps when you need to , after all you just had major surgery. It will all start coming together soon. Love and hugs. Jan

Hi Susan, Honey, I am post op as of April 23rd. About 4 days ago I felt like I was pregnant again. My emotion**** for no reason that I can come up with, and cried 3 X's that day. It didn't last long but there it was...the ups and downs. All to be expected and so normal. You will look back and smile upon those days. You will do great so just let those feelings out and don't feel guilty about it. Any type of surgery can turn emotions upside down. Good luck and keep us posted on how you are doing. You have joined a bunch of nuts who you will learn to love. Welcome! Charlotte

Hi Susan, First off, congrats to you on making it to the losing side! Please know that these feelings are totally normal. Heck I still have lots of ups and downs and I'm almost 10 mos. post op. Everything is still really new for you and you are adjusting as it's all so overwhelming trying to figure everything out. Just try and hang in there, relax and do the best you can, it does get easier with time.

Your avatar is so appropriate. You are using new wings to fly a new path. It's scary. I also think anesthesia, hormones, emotions, etc mess with us right now. Keep doing all the things you've been told and the pay-off will be here soon. Mainly just drink as much as you can, worry about the protein in another week or so. And, actually, walking does help. It moves stuff around inside you. Whenever I eat too much and don't feel too well I just walk around and around the house and pretty soon it is better. Hugs and prayers, Lana

I had gastric bypass on Feb 15 2007 and I have days that I really struggle with the emotions, my moods swing so badly somedays, I will be grouchy/ crying/ mad and not even know why. I was comforted a little bit when I read that the endophins that help "make us happy" come mainly from carbs. Since with gastic bypass we no longer eat many carbs, it made sense to me why I would be feeling this way. It always helps me to cope when I have an explanation too whats going on, and to know there is a real reason why Im feeling this way.

I have posted some your comments that really help--
I think this is the Post-Op blues--I glad to know there is a name for it. We can laugh (Ups downs of Po-op-POOP.) My feelings are ok--post-op blues is common; doubts about having had the surgery are common too.
What I hear everyone saying is give it time and keep moving. I love this saying we can only, " act our way into right thinking, we can't think our way into right acting."
Just keep following the rules and telling yourself that your mind would soon catch up with your body and it will.
Changes take time, I think we sometimes expect to morph into a new person immediately, but it was the changes that I was experiencing with my weight and realizing that after all this time it was finally happening that triggered my strange response. For some reason it was all very overwhelming. You made the decision to improve you health and that's always the right thing to do.
Give it some time and relax! You're going to do just fine!!
I pray that these feelings will leave very soon.
You'll be okay! Just rest and walk around as much as possible.
Thanks all for your input.
Goodspeed, Lovenmotion
