Not feeling well, is this normal?
Hey everyone,
I'm 9 days post op and really thought I'd be having alot more energy and wanting to get up and about. Mentally I want to, but physically I feel exhausted and weak. All I want to do is lay around and sleep. When I try to get up and doing something I start feeling woosy.
I was doing pretty good until yesterday. I'm not sure if it was a set back after the long trip to St Louis to see the doc on Wednesday or what. I'm getting all my vitamins and proteins in. Drinking as much as my tummy will allow.
I'm supposed to go back to work on Tuesday next week. I sure hope this passes, otherwise work will be very difficult to get through.

Pam,
Everyone's bodies are different and some spring back quicker than others. But, you can read your body better than anyone and if you feel that you should be further along and have more energy, then by all means call your Dr. I am 11 days post op and today I really feel like jumping around, yet still a little sore. But I was feeling pretty darned good about the 6th day.
Just call the office instead of second guessing yourself. Your Dr. would rather you call than not. Let us know and I will send some of my energy your way.

When you become woosy, is it when you stand up after sitting or laying down? If it is, it could be a postural change in your blood pressure from loss of blood during surgery. It also could be many other things so you should call your doctor. No matter the case, CALL THE DOCTOR. They are the ones who know best. I hope you get to feeling better soon.

Pam,
I think you're just exhausted from the trip. Remember you just had major abdominal surgery. Even though the outside holes are little your insides have been rearranged.
You will have good days and bad days and since you cannot eat much you may feel weak and woozy. Your body has had a terrible shock - you're starving it to death in its opinion!!! It will catch on eventually and learn that this is the way you are going to live from now on and you'll feel much better. I went back to work after two weeks and I sit at a desk and I did fine but then we had the ice storm and I was off another week and I was glad. Just don't stress and rest up as much as you can until you have to go to work. You will feel better soon, I promise.
Hugs,

It is pretty normal for you to have bouts of no energy. In your mind your excited and feeling pretty good. Just thinking of all the thing you will be able to do now. But please remember that your body is going thro a MAJOR turn around. That is why you will burn off alot of weight early on in yourpost op state. Is because your really not taking in awhole lot compared to what you use to eat. (Now mind you I am not saying you Oinked out or anything). But look at what you can consume in 1 day compared to what you use to be able to consume in 1 day. BIG DIFFERENCE!!! So it will take time for your body to adjust. There are times to this day that I can get wiped out easly if I dont make sure I get in my fluid and protein!!! Just keep a check on it and if it would make you feel better. Feel free to call your Nut that is what she is there for!!! Keep up the great work sweetie!!! I am so proud of you!!!
Love ya
Mel
