Hi my name is Angie---I'm new to this website. I'm not new to the weight loss surgery---althought I have NOT had it yet I do hope to. It's been a long road for me---I keep getting the run around. Well, that was until I found Dr Hornbostel in Sedalia. I saw one DR. that told me to lose 200 lbs and come back and see him---yeah what a joke---if I could lose 200 lbs I wouldn't need a surgery---MORON!!! Anyway, I live in Osage Beach MO and am begining the steps for surgery---my PCP wants me to go for a echocardiogram and stress test before he'll write me a letter. So that is where I'm at. I went to a seminar in Sedalia on Tuesday May 1st with Dr Hornbostel. Monday I am going to see the diabetic educator here at the Lake hospital. Any advice or comments or suggestions or ANYTHING at all pleaseeeeeeee lemme know lol. I'm 32 and weight 536 lbs. When I was 2 I doubled my weight and have been big every since. I don't have the desire to be skinny---I just want to be HEALTHY and to walk again. Thanks for listening--my email is [email protected] or I'll figure out how to check this forum again. Again thanks for listening---errr reading lol.

Angie I do know that the hospital that Dr. HOrnbostel operates out of did have a 450 pound limit. there tables wont hold anyone over that weight but they may have up graded since i knew anything about it. Please check with them. IF so you can go on a high protein diet and for sure lose that 80 pounds before surgery . I have had several friends that have done so. Good luck and please come back often to visit us and let us get to know you. We care and love you Jan

Welcome Angie. I went to see Dr. Hornbostel on Wednesday for my consult appointment. Isn't he wonderful?! I have never seen a doctor so forward and to the point. I hope everything works out for you. This board is wonderful and the people here are too. You can talk to them about anything. Hugs, Layla

Angie First off Welcome to the Missouri Board!!!! Were so glad to have you here posting to us. Please post anytime I know we would all love to hear from you. And to know how you are doing along the way. When I read your post I was drawn back to a 2 years ago when I started this journey myself. And believe me if you set your mind too it you can do anything your heart desires sweetie!!!! When I started I was at 498lbs. I went to Dr. Scott and of course he told me I had to lose some weight before he would do surgery. At first I was mad at him and myself for letting myself get into that bad of shape. I felt like Jeff Foxworthy was going to pop out of the closet and tell me "You might be a Redneck if your too fat for Weight Loss Surgery". But he never did. lol After I sulked and *****ed and moaned for a short while and went in the wrong direction. By the grace of God he sent me back to Dr. Scott and Dr. Scott was really pleased with the progress I made. I am just a little over a year out. April 24th 2006 was my rebirth and trust me it has TOTALLY given me my life back!!!! I would do it again every year for the rest of my life if I had to just to have the life I have now. My last weight in was Wed of this week and I am sitten at 254lbs. My goal was to lose half of my body weight. Do I want to stop loseing?? Not in a long shot. But if this is where God has me set then I am so totally content that nothing well waver that feeling. That made the best decision I have ever made for myself!!! I can out walk my DH (Dear Hubby) I have LOTS of engery. I can take care of my own PERSONAL HYGEINE. (That was humalating) My relationship with my DH is so much better in all departments I feel like a totally new person or at least half the person I use to be. I got rid of all the bad thing I didnt like about myself and kept the good thing I do like about myself. Please feel free to drop me an email anytime. My email address is [email protected] I would love to hear from you. Feel free to go to my profile and check out my pic and profile. It has been quite a journey that's to say the least!!! Wishing you all the best in your own journey!!! God Bless Mel

Angie.....Howdy & welcome to the board!!!!!! I wish you all the best on your journey with the WLS!!!!! I have not had my surger yet...I have been on a liquid protein diet for the past 10 weeks....I had to loose 50lbs to have my surgery and I am almost there....The protien diet sucks but it will work and just keep in mind that once you get to your goal weight you need to be at to have surgery then it will come off much easier and faster....I am looking forward to getting a date really soon and looking forward to becoming a looser soon as well.....I started out at 474....Not real far from where you are starting from....I know some of the issues that you must be facing.....As Mel mentioned in her post there is alot to deal with when you are our size....I am looking so forward to seeing the differences in my life that she has....By the way if you need to talk she is a real sweetie....She happens to be one of my angels and she has been so helpfull with providing info and pep talks for me!!!!! I have yahoo so I will drop you a line soon and you are welcome to email me anytime and if you have messenger you can add me to it and we can chat when we happen on at the same times..... I do the daily prayer request post so feel free to drop in and let us know any time you might have a need and would like prayer....I also have taken up lately trying to help newbies to find angels to support them thru their WLS journey so if you would like to have an angel please drop me a line or look for my post, I will be posting one soon about getting an angel becasue we have had several newbies in the past few weeks... Again wish you all the best and hope you keep dropping by the board....it is one of most friendliest and helpful places I have found...Everyone is terrific on here....God Bless you....Hugs...Tammy H.
