Howdy everyone! Here's my story.

The surgery itself went just as planned. I even got in to the operating room early. Spent a little to much time in recovery so my family was worried. They had no need to be worried I was just laying there. They were having trouble getting me on to the floor because the nurses were in the middle of shift change and so getting my  report to the right person took a while. Then just waiting for someone to get me from recovery to my room took awhile. So 3 hours later instead of 1 hour I was in my room.  Come to find out I should of left recovery with my Pain pump and no I didn't have one and was hurting like hell. An hour later I had my pain pump. I was getting dircet doses of Morphine in my IV while waiting on the pain pump but it just wasn't cutting it.  Went into surgery just before 3pm and wasn't in my room tell 8pm. My family talked to the surgeon at 5:30 so it was a lot of hurry up and wait for them. 9pm I got my pain pump and was up and walking at 1am. I may have over done it here so now I am a little sorer then some. You dont have to walk 3 doors down just getting out of bed at this point is good. I pushed myself a little hard. I've learned not to push to hard. There is a happy medium.  Paseed all my leck test. Getting on that exray board to do one of the test was a *****. I spent another day in the hospital and left yesturday at 3pm.  I am very sore not going to lie. I feel fine if I am just laying down in the recliner.  I slept in the bed last night with pellow*****hed up behind me. Only woke up once through the night to pee.  Im having lost of gass and feel like I may end up pooping myself when letting it go. Just feels that way not really pooping myself. I know everyone feels different some better then others.  I was able to shower myself last night and change my bandages. That took all I had. I have my drain hooked to a lanyerd around my neck.  Seems to be working well.  I've had a sf jello, Isopure (clear in a bottle) and lots of water since being home. My multi and pain meds of course too.  I know I've asked myself what the hell have you done to yoru self. BUT I know it is all worth it.  TIME TO PEE!!  I've been drinking a lot!
Grace & Peace,
Erin

Dear Erin, Im so glad your home and able to relax a bit. I know the hospital was a little disorganized when it came to finding your pain pump and your time in recovery. Susan had the same problem with being in recovery forever-they had her on a pain pump-but didnt have a bed for her to go to! ARGH....Im sorry you had that experience-but you handled everything like a trooper!! Those of us that do experience a lot of pain post-op, all ask that same question about what the hell did I do? I actually said-up until about 6 weeks post-op, that I couldnt say I would do it all over again....but now-I would do it again in a heartbeat-and you will start to feel that way really soon too!! I was so thankful that you had people at the hospital to help you stay on top of everything with the pain shots and such-cause I knew by the way you were talking that one time-that IF someone didnt give you a pain shot-you were ready to kick some butt-LOL....But, your home now-and well on your way to recovery and We will keep you in our prayers for a very speedy and uneventful recovery!!!  PLEASE remember to keep sipping-you dont want to get dehydrated-that makes you so weak and sick. When you dont think you can sip anymore-do it anyway-and dont wait until your thirsty-just sip your little head off. I didnt and got dehydrated and they wanted to put me back in the hospital one week post op!! So-there IS a reason they tell you. I didnt feel thirsty and didnt drink as much as I should have.  I am praying for you-and you have my number-if you have any questions-please call. Yesterday was a crazy day-Darrel talked to you when I was driving and when you left the message that you were going home-I was down at Mikes parents place talking to them for a bit-so sorry I missed you. I will try and call you sometime today to check in on ya-do you happen to have cingular for your cell phone provider-or the new AT&T I should say?  Thinking of you-all my love and prayers-and I am very happy your with us on the losers bench. Hey women! I would love a update on Susan. I was hoping to go find her before I left the hospital but I couldn't remeer her last name and didn't know where she was. I just knew she wasn't on 5 west because I walked it and looked on all the doors for her name. lol I left my cell phone in my parents van so I don't have my phone today. I'll have it this evening when my best friend comes to town  to spend the weekend here.  I am drinking lots. I am on 22oz and its only 10am. I know I'll make it to 64oz with no probelm today.   I was just trying to reach you yesturday to find something out about Susan.  There was another couple there at the hospital that was in my per op class that I saw yesturday. We were leaving at the same time.  I have pictures to share!!  Check my profiel soon.  No I dont have cingular. Tmobile.
Grace & Peace,
Erin

Im glad your WLS went ok! Glad that you are back home and getting back to normal.  You are right, there is a happy medium, DONT PUSH YOURSELF too hard at this point! You will be sorry!  Just take your time for now, just get up and walk every few hours or so, but not more then you can handle! The Divas are here for you if you need to talk/gripe/or ask Q's...and it looks like you have lots of OH friends as well!  The gas is normal, and the pooping yourself or fear of is normal too! Some people do and some are fortunate enough to not have that problem.  When do you get your drain out? And when do you go back to the Dr ??  I can't wait until you get back to yourself! IT IS WORTH IT! And you deserve to be healthy, and you have taken the 1st step to better you life! And I am so proud of you for it!!!  And get used to peeing all day long, I still do! HEHE
