Hi Friends. Well I'm finally coming to the end of my trek hopefully. I've all my tests in, insurance is approved. Amy said that she's going to set me up for a class but she didn't elaborate. Can anyone share with me what the class is and what it's all about. Thanks, Bob M.
Bob
If I am correct I am assuming ou have alreay done the seminar because insurance has already approved and you have done the testing. I believe your next step is the class (which I attended last week) where the nutritionist, psychologist, exercise therapist, and one of the doctors come in to talk to you about what to expect after surgery. Then is the most exciting you will get your date if you don't already have one. If you have any other questions let me know and one of us columbian's will try to answer them for you.

Chelle,
Joy joy joy!! I am relieved to have all my testing done, geezuz! I did 1/2 in Springfield and 1/2 in Columbia and it was a trying time to get all together, it took me 6 months!
Amy said that she'll speak with Dr. Scott to see if he'll approve me to get a class (I assume this is with other people who will have WLS?) before she gets my final test. Right now I'm fighting to get my sugar under control, it's been hovering at 350 for a couple of weeks now.
Thanks for sharing and God Bless!

Thanks for sharing girl. I see you've already had your surgery, how did it go and what are your review of doctors and hospital care.
Bob M.
My surgeon was great.
MO University Hospital. Well the room I was in was very small. My husband had to lay in bed with me to have a comfortable place to be when visiting.
I work in the medical field so I tend to be little more pationt with nusing staff. I want them to give me the saem care they are giving the person before me. At times it seemsed like forever before help was there. But I know my nursing staff was doing there best.
I had a crazy roomate and they got her a private room asap after I complained.
Im am 7 days out and off pain meds and drove today. Very tired now and ready for a nap.
Grace & Peace,
Erin

Hi Bob! Ditto on what the others said. I just had my final class on June 25th, then have to return on August 2 to meet with the dr and anaesthesiologist, then return August 6th for surgery. This has been a 'PRAISE GOD' moment for me, as when my surgery date rolls around, this will have been an eight-month project. The only frustrating thing is that it is an 8 hour drive for me one way, and they cannot combine appointments to help me out with all that travel. Oh well! The end is in sight! I am so looking forward to the surgery, and am glad almost all the preliminaries are over! Yeah! Best of luck to you with your surgery. I think you will even maybe enjoy the class! I know I did!
Best, LaNeta

Thanks KansasGal!
Did you say 'classes' are there more than one??
Plus, what kind of pre-diet did they put you on and for how long?
Thanks thanks thanks.
Bob M.
Sorry 'bout that. NO, thankfully, there is only one. Have to meet with the drs August 2nd. Guess what I meant to say before is that it would have been SO nice, had I been able to meet with the drs around the same time (even the next day or day after) rather than make that blasted 8 hr trip again, but thank heavens! My insurance is paying mileage, motel and meals.
As for pre-op, I am to start liquid protein diet on July 23rd and surgery is August 6, so two weeks. This, I found out in the meeting, is so the liver shrinks and makes the surgery easier. One of my dear friends I had lost track of a couple years ago, had the surgery unbeknownst to me, on March 23, 2006. The other day, she sent me her photo. She went from 305 to 150, and man, does she look fantastic! Just think of how SUPER we will look, Bob! God bless you on your journey.
BTW, I would like to be your friend. Is that ok????
Best wishes!

LaNeta, I know what you mean about the doubling up of appointments. I also wanted them to back to back some of mine because of the (3+ hour drive) I have, not as far as you though. I can't imagine, I don't want to allow myself the freedom to think of the wonderful changes because it's like NO WAY!!! LOL I can't even imagine being 'normal size', most normal size people probably take it for granted, each and every day is going to be a WOW LOOK AT WHAT I CAN DO!!! LOL We'll have to be in touch because I'm hoping I'll go in just a bit after you! Compare our Wows and support each other....
