newbie with a few question

I am 25 years old with no medical problems other than obesity. my bmi is 49.9, i am so afraid of my insurance denying me because of how young I am and that I am healthy otherwise. I have even caught myself creating false symthoms. I dont want to get my hopes up then something go wrong. i would be devistated.  One other question, i have my evaluations coming up on monday, what are they expecting from me? what do they want to hear? Thank in advance for your knowledge.

Hi there, I just wanted you to know that every surgeon is different as far as what THEY require-and then there is what the insurance requires-some just require your BMI be higher than 40-some require co-mo's to go with that-and I think most require that you have tried other means before trying for WLS. They will ask you all the questions and then you go from there. If you have already gotten the consult-then you have gone to the seminar, correct? So-you will know more when you go see them!! I agree with everything Janet had to say. I would also say that maybe you should call your insurance and find out what all they require. My insurance sent me a packet in the mail and it detailed everything out for me.  My case manager was great about answering questions. Who do you have for insurance? It is great to have you! Please come by often!!

Carlanae....Howdy and welcome to the board!!!! I agree you should check with your insurance company and have a heads up on what their requirements are......They have the main vote in if you get to have the surgery or not! And then after that like Janet said different doctors have different requirements. Then you can work on checking around on what the doctors require. Im not so sure your age will be a big factor we have a few young ones having surgery or that have had surgery.
