LOL..."put to sleep". Sounds like they're killing ya sweetie : )
I was nevous too before my first surgery. I dont know what it'll be like for Weight loss surgery (Im pre op) because I had back surgery.
But after they wheeled my bed into a surgery prep room (it was a big room with other patients-- getting I.V. and waiting for a open O.R room---at my hospital they had heated blankets they put on everyone to keep us warm-- it was wonderful...like a big warm hug), they started an IV and then they gave me an injection into my IV that made me very sleepy. I dont even remember falling asleep.
The very next thing I remember is waking up in a recovery room. Literally I closed my eyes and BAM it was over with. Although almost 5 hours had passed-- to me it felt like minutes. You will wake up sweetie. Everyday just in Missouri alone, hundreds of people have surgery. Trust your doctors and your hospital. They are trained and very well versed. You'll be taken care of.

welcome to the Missouri board. we are praying for you and your surgery ,,,I hope you will come back often. Amanda explained the proscess very well. I have had several surgeries and they have all gone about the same way. I think that is the part that makes the most people nervous. and i think most of it is the lack of control you have while asleep. Your doctor will take good care of you. Have you met the anestheiloligst (sp) yet? tell him your worries. have him or her to explain it to you. really well. Jan

Thanks I appreciate being apart of the Missouri Board and you're quick responses. I meet the anesthesiiologist in two weeks when I go in for my blood workup and EKG.
I am at work and leaving for the day but you guys have encouraged me so much. I will be online often to ask lost of questions so I hope you guys don't mind. Have a blessed weekend and thanks again.
Thanks so much!!! You made that sound so calming and don't know how much you're description has made me relax about it. I was given some type of medication in my IV when I gave birth to my daughter and it worked so quickly and before I knew it I was out cold and it was the next morning 3:00 am to be exact. I was given the medication at around nine so yes time does fly. My surgery is suppose to take only 30 minutes and I am to be in recovery for about two hours before I am released. I am excited and can't wait for this change, I want to be able to get out and run around with my daughter and not be super tired when I am done. I am only 30 yrs old and have struggled with my weight since the age of 4. My siblings have as well. My sister and some other family members are sooo against this surgery. This discouraged me at first, she said we could try weigh****chers and not to do it. Well I never got another call about joining so I my plan still stands. My doctor who is at the kcbariatric center Stanly Hoehn said you're sister will see your results and be my patient next year. I believe it because I know I am going to look and feel great.
Thank you so much for your information!!!! When is you're date for surgery? I wish I had a picture so people can put a name with the face.
Please feel comfortable about your surgery. I love the warm blankets and it really is like you just close your eyes and wake up and it's completed. You are going to be given a wonderful tool to help you lose weight. It's not magic but it helps so much. Can't wait to hear from you after surgery.
Hugs and welcome to the board.

Amy
Hi, nice to meet you. You are certainly in good hands, with Dr. Hoehn and his staff. I have heard great things about them. You will have so many prayers sent on your behalf,it will be a piece of cake. Sorry, maybe a piece of protein? LOL I am also waiting for surgery, with Dr. Hitch**** Right now I am seeing Dr. Sabapathy. There is always fear involved with any surgery. You just have to be confident with the doctors, and leave the rest up to God. Good Luck to you. Cindy
