I have been turned down by my insurance company. They said that I need the six month supervised diet. That is the only requirement that I need to have WLS. It is just another hoop I got to jump through. I have been going to the doctor for the past three months. So, hopefully I have three months to go. J I was hoping to have it before I started back to school and work, however; it’s not in god’s plan and I'm ok with that.

Jane it seems that most insurances and doctors are now requiring the 6 months supervised diet. and yes if you have 3 months that your doctor has been helping you with dieting and says so in your chart it probably will count. Maybe you can have your surgery during christmas vacation. if you are like me and several others i know you will be able to return to class at the end of that time. Good luck and continue to come on line and tell us all about it.

Hi Jane.  I think many insurance companies are doing the diet requirement and it sounds like you are half way there.  Good luck and I love your attitude! Trudy

Jane, Good for you.  You are half way there and you'll be approved before you know it.  Be sure your PCP is documenting your efforts to lose and also keep in touch with your insurance rep.  As I recall, you have a history of weight loss efforts so if I were you I'd start trying to remember what plans you've tried, how much you lost on each one, how quickly you gained it back and write all that down some-place. Then, if you need it you'll be good to go.  Hugs and keep smiling. Lana

Went to the doctor yesterday and I am four months into the sixth month. I hope that this is what they want. The second month I saw the weight loss surgeon I wonder if that counts?  That is the month that I met with the nutritionist and the physical trainer. Thanks for all the support. Jane
