Hello all! I am almost 3 years post op and have been at a plateau of 180-190s for a while now.  I am in need of encouraging words or suggestions.  What have any of you done to help get past the plateaus?  I would like to get down to at least 160 lbs.  I also have a 17 month old and I am always tired!!  I'd also like to connect with other mothers with children my son's age who are in a similar situation....Thanks in advance! Lisa there is a plauteau busting diet that consist of basically lots of protein, when i do it i use protein shakes 3 times a day and then about 100 oz of water and if i eat any food it is always nothing but protein. meat, cheese, eggs, tuna, etc etc. and up the exercise. do this for 10 days and it should start it going again. Sorry about the 17 month old i know that is tiring and cant help you on that part. Wish you would come to the Circle of Friends meeting that is the 23rd at 6:30 pm at the Library Center at 4653 S. Campbell.this month. you can connect with lots of people who have a lot more experience than me about diets and such. Jan

Hi Lisa, First of all, let me say-Nice to meet you....Second-CONGRATS on the wonderful weight loss-and although you are not at the goal you have in mind for yourself-what an accomplishment and a testimonial to those of us on the road~~Im very happy for you!! I am no where near as far out as you are. I had RNY on 11/29/06 and between pre-surgery weight loss and post op-I have lost 164#. I weighed 438# pre-op, so I have a lot longer before I am at my goal-but I understand the platuea hell and the struggles with a young one, however, my little guy just turned 4-he still keeps me on my toes.

I also attend the COF support group in Springfield-and I really think that you will love it-if you would come and check it out-they will talk to you about ANY concerns, and everyone is so supportive, encouraging and loving-that when you leave-your already yearning for the next months meeting-so it would be so great to have you come!!

Do you still take vitamins? About the being tired-I think a lot of people chasing toddlers get tired-LOL-BUT-I know that I notice a big difference, for instance, when I am due to take my vitamin B and I get a lot more energy when I take my vitamins faithfully. I missed a week or so when I got really sick-and I could tell the difference in my energy level.

Another question-are you on any medications or something that is preventing the weight loss? I know I had to take some steroid injections and once that all started, the weight loss came to a screeching halt-how discouraging to do so good and then WHAM, it stops and no matter what you do or dont do-it doesnt matter. They tell me that the steroids will be in my system for a year-so I guess will see how the rest of the year goes and how much more I can lose. I know I am not much help-but Jan gave you some really good tips-and I know she did it and it did help her jump start her weight loss again. I hope that you get something from us that will help-and I hope we will get the chance to meet you face to face at the group coming up.  Take care and please come back often and let us get to know you.  Jan does a daily thread called Whats Happening and we would love to see you post on it and get to know us....You will be amazed at how wonderful this board is!!!

Take care-Janet
