Hey, did anyone else have any abnormal levels in their liver after surgery? My levels have been done twice now and they are slightly elevated. I will call my pcp tomorrow to get what my exact levels were a couple/few weeks ago when I was in ER to give to my dr in Columbia. They did bloodwork Monday (last week) to see if they were still elevated and they were but they have nothing to go by--to see if they need to further investigate this. Like, if they are going down they normally would not worry about it--but if they are going up or staying the same they must look further into it.  Thanks Cheryl xoxo

Hi Cheryl, I have not had my surgery yet, but my liver is also elevated, i have had CT and MRI and found out every time i gain wait my liver enzymes/bloodwork go up, my doc said it is a fatty liver and i have a nodule on mine.  This goes up and down based on my weight.  hope this helps amy

Hi Amy-- It helps some yes. Thing that is strange about this--I had my bloodwork done 2-3 before surgery and my liver enzymes were fine--I assume I never heard otherwise til now. You would have thought though prior to surgery I would have had this problem being more overweight then (200). But I have lost nearly 40 lbs since surgery (June 6, 2007). I hope I don't have anything serious. Did they tell you what the nodule was? Just curious.  Cheryl

Hi Cheryl, yes it is a fatty cyst (technical term is nodule), wow that's great on your weight loss, congratulations.  Let me know what you find out. Amy

Hi Amy-- Ok, I just found out my levels from June 27th. My ALT was 39 and AST was 36. Basically 2 weeks later, July 9th, my levels went from that to---ALT 42 and AST 102. I am waiting for the bariatric nurse to call me back. Thursday I see my pcp for my annual exam, so I will see her then--but it's still scary to me. I hope I didn't catch anything in the hospital. That's all I know right now. Cheryl

Cheryl, I had my blood work done last thursday 7/12 and my AST was 40 and my ALT was 56 (both to high) my Alkaline Phosphatase was 137, and I havent even had surgery yet.  I havent decided yet which to go with the RNY or Lapband.  Undecided still.  let me know. amy

Amy-- The RNY is more permanent whereas Lapband is not. I would think getting the Lapband would be a huge hassle. Having to go in all the time to get it tightened and loosened up. I dunno. My insurance would only pay for RNY. I've had no complications with my surgery. This liver thing is the first thing that's came up. Cheryl
