St. Louis Surgeon - Dr. de la Torre, Dr. Eagon, or ??

I am just starting this process and have been researching surgeons in the St. Louis area (I live in St. Charles).  So far the two that have stood out for me are de la Torre and Eagon.  Do any of you recommend either of them or have someone else in this area you think I should check out? Dr. Eagon has an informational meeting tonight I think I will attend and de la Torre has one tomorrow night.  Anybody going to either of these or have been to them in the past? Thanks for your help!

Welcome to the MO board.  I am having surgery on Aug 29th with De La Torre. I really liked him and his staff. He is extreamly busy though. They are booking surgeries six weeks out now from the preop class. I had it friday and have to wait til the end of Aug. He has one of the best track record though and is very good about giving you as much information as they can and telling you everything. Good and bad. The seminars alone are packed full of great information and they are usually very full so get there early. Did you call Nancy to register for the class tomorrow? They are always so full you have to let them know you are coming. I haven't heard much about Eagon, sorry. Maybe someone else has. Well, hope you get some great info from the seminars. I did call Nancy and am signed up for tonight.  I think it starts at 7:00, what time do you think I should get there? What has your time frame been since you first went to his seminar?

Melissa,   I had Dr. Eagon for my surgeon and he was WONDERFUL I would HIGHLY recommend him.  He's very quiet so he kind of comes across as not caring but that is SOOO far from the truth.   He and his staff will help you with anything you need.  I had my surgery on Jan. 20 2006 and am forever grateful to him.   I had no complications at all and he has helped me with a plastic surgeon now for the next step.   He recommended Dr. Tung who is also at Barnes Jewish.  I met with his nurse today and can only say that they are as wonderful as Dr. Eagon and his staff are.  If you have any questions please feel free to ask.  Hugs,  Anna

I had Dr. De La Torra.  He has a great rack record and I HIGHLY RECOMEND him.  I am a month out and have had great progress. I go see him tomorrow for my 1 month check up. I look forward to it. You would be seeing him at a different clinic then I so his staff will be diffrent but I love the staff I have in Columbia MO.  Best wishes!

I had Eagon and thought he was great.  Knew what he was doing.  Put me at ease, answered all my questions, and his partner Dr. Halpin is really nice too.  I chose Eagon b/c he had the best stats and taught one of my family friends who is a doctor how to do the RNY so I had to listen to my friend and go with what he thought best.  GOOD LUCK!!!! Dr. Eagon did my surgery in May.  He was awsome.  I dont think I could of made a better choice.   He to is very busy but his nurse Donna is super great.  She is always there to answer questions.  I had my surgery at the Barns/Jewish in West Coundy.  Great hospital.   Small so you got extra  attention.   I have seen Dr. Halpin once she was very nice also.  I see her again in a couple weeks for my 2nd post op appt.   I would recomend them in a heartbeat.
