Seeking Legal Assistance

Hello, I had gastric bypass in 2004 with great results (MGB, Dr. David Hargroder, Joplin, MO).   In 2006 after a major stress event which brought on 72 hours of continual vomiting, followed by deliberate fasting on my part, I developed a bleeding  ulcer.  (It took about 15 days.)  My doctors indicate it was brought on by stress and dehydration, but the insurance carrier I have is blaming it upon my gastric bypass. They say ulceration is common with all gastric bypasses, and that my pscyho-social stress event played no part in the occurance of the ulcer.   They refuse to pay the hospital and physicians bills, and I am massively in debt, now, because of their decision.  It's my physicians against their physicians.  It's coming down to the ultimate show-down.  I am appealing their decisions, of course, but I need advice and help from any and all who will assist.  I'm specifically seeking information on attornies who work with these kinds of claims disputes, and advice from those in the medical field who can direct me to research supporting stress-induced ulceration and peptic disease. Please reply to me at [email protected] Thanks, Lorrie

Lorrie, Wish I had knowledge to help you but I don't.  Just wanted you to know I hear you and I care about your problems.  Insurance companies' goals are to find reasons to not pay claims.  What kind of insurance do you have, if you don't mind saying.  I'd like to know for future reference should I ever not have the coverage I do now.  Thanks. Lana

Cox Health Systems.  It's your neighborhood! LOL No secret here.  It's been the pits for my my husband's company, and for several of his employees, too. Every claim is a fight.
