WHATS HAPPENING FOR SUNDAY

Jan C.
on 7/28/07 1:30 pm - Cedar Creek, MO

Went to the auction today and some really nice people that everyone down here knows bought the house, they got a good bargain on it too. I bought a couple of things but the chiffarobe got priced out of my price range real quick. Sold for almost 1000.00 too rich for my blood.

Not long after the auction it started clouding up and started to rain. About an inch so far. Hope it continues for us for a while longer. We need about an inch more. At least maybe I wont have to water quite as much. I hope that anyone that had things planned the rain is going around them.

When the rain came in it brought cooler temps too. That feels good that is for sure.  Almost was cold later on out on the back porch. Had to get a long sleeved shirt and put it on. Lol  Sure different than last year or all of my life before wls.

Sugar, my sister is having gall bladder Surgery on the 6th of August with Dr. Edwards and Becky , that has been on here some and has been to a couple of COF meetings is having gall bladder surgery on the 7th with Dr. Hornbostel. We will be praying with and about both of these surgeries as well as all our other prayers we have .

JANET IN KC:  Janet you aren’t too old to start a new career. You will still have to work wont you so you aren’t too old. I was 40 when I went to school and was the oldest one in my class. But you know what I finished second in our class and  on  the nursing exam I made the highest in the state and there were about 200 people testing on that day. I walked in there and finished my test really fast and I thought oh no I bet I failed it big time I thought that was way too easy. But I guess my mind was working ok that day because like I said I finished highest score made that day , only missed one question. So no at 30 you are still a young woman, a lot of people are just getting started on their first career. Hope you will try to come to the reunion in Sept. that we are having.

Keep on working to get more weight off because nursing is hard work and the less you weight the better it will be on your knees and feet.

TAMMY C: Not long till your surgery date on the 8th. Is the carpal tunnel surgery painful? My orthopedic surgeon says it needs to be done but isnt as much of an emergency as my knees.

Yeah I think you answered your own question on here so you don’t need any of my wonderful words of wisdom. Lol

You are doing great and sounds like you are about as ready as you can get for your weight loss surgery.

Hope your week end is going great.

SHEILA: sounds like you had a great time with the kids at the fair. Im glad it was you and not me riding those rides . They scare me and Im not a fan of them at all.

I will save you some flower seeds and bring them either to the next meeting or to the reunion.

Your right I cant slow down , if I did moss might grow on me. Cant have that.

Will get all of the flower seeds all packaged up for you.

TAMMY: yeah it sure has been hot hasn’t it. Yes most of the flowers I have are for the sun. and if your front yard is shade then you will probably need to plant them in the back.

It is such a shame that our young kids are all , it seems, not getting it right the first time out. I think they don’t really take the time to get to know the person they are trusting with all their heart and sole and then are very surprised when it doest work. Bless her heart. Tell her we are all praying for her. And your darling granddaughter.

I know if she is like her mama she will be ok and bounce back soon.

JANET: So how did your reception go over? I hope the weather held for you and the party went off well. Yes I know what you mean about getting your house and yard ready for company. I want everything to be perfect and it never can but you try. I hope your back didn’t hurt you too bad and the reception went off very well and everyone had fun.

Bless your heart and all your strays. Lol. You can put ads in the paper for someone to come take them . Maybe go to the vets office and show them the puppy and tell them if anyone needs a good pet you have one. Is there not a (no kill) place to take them too there?

Oh wow on the boston ferns , a couple of years ago I found some at the end of summer like that. They usually are very large at this time of year. Of course unless you have room for them indoors they would get frosted on soon. But for 5.00 is pretty cheap.

I hope your daughter will open up in the counseling sessions soon. It wil be to her benefit if she does but it may not change her behavior.

So did Mel and Terry get to come to the reception? I hope she feels like she is getting some better. Is she going to have to have another surgery …..*sigh* Her body sure has been put thru the wringer this year.

COLETTE:Yes I sure do hope the new girls will come to your support meeting. How is it doing? Are you all gaining in members yet? It will take awhile for the word to get around. Maybe if you could go on the list of people that are registered on here and pick out the ones that are close to your meeting then send them emails about it.

Don’t know but that might get it.

Im glad that Mel hasn’t been falling anymore . Hang in there sweetie.

BEV: You know the pain in the right upper quadrant of your stomach area sounds like your gall bladder. But didn’t you say you had your gall bladder out all ready?

Didn’t you say you have roommates? Couldn’t they take care of your puppies for a night and a day? I hope you get to feeling lots better and get your strength back

Lol on having fake plants. That is what I use to say long time ago. Anyone can learn to garden all it takes is a desire to do it.

NUTTI: wow wonderful about getting out your drain and also about your weight loss. That is fantastic. Wont take you long to be able to just do some little something that you haven’t done in years and years.

The first time I could change pants standing up was my first wow.

Have had many since then but that was my first I think

Yeah you will be able to garden next year, just hang on.

JULIA: So glad when you post. That is more or less like old times.

I hope you do plan on coming to the reunion and down worry we will find you a bed somewhere with someone.. The cabin I and Joe will be in has two bedrooms but I have already promised that room to Sheila but if no one else has room I think the couch in there makes a bed too.. and since you are getting to be miss skinny butt you could sleep there.

Don’t understand that mental attitude from your boyfriend. And you going to work.

Wouldn’t it make it easier to have two incomes coming in?

That is great that you are getting to be a model for others in your family to diet and lose weight too.

Everyone that said they needed or wanted flower seeds , I will remember you and will bring them to you at the next COF meeting if you come to them and to the rest will catch you at the reunion.

Anyone that is interested the web site that is listed in my signature area. Go there and you will find some pictures of my yard and some of my flowers.

Talk to all of you later. :

Im falling asleep at the wheel tonight so to speak

Need to get this filed so everyone can see.

LOVE AND JOY AND PEACE ABOUNDS

JAN

Hi all.  Just thougt that I would drop in and say hi.  I have been lurking alot lately.  We went to the Royals game tonight.  There were almost 200 people there from Windsor and we all sat in the same section.  We got to walk around the field and a young girl from here (she's about 12) got to sing the national anthem. It was so hot!!!!!  MY girls looked like tomatoes they were so red. I could imagine what I looked like.  I had sweat so much that I felt like I had peed myself.(sorry to be so gross)  The best was when the sun went behind a cloud and it started to rain a little.  The girls were so excited, they had never been to anything like that before.  anyway hope everyone is doing well and hope you all have a good day.  Hugs, Layla

Jan - the carpal tunnel surgery really isn't very painful, its more of an inconvenience because you are restricted on the use of the hand during the healing process.  You get pretty good at using the opposite hand for whatever needs to be pickedup or grasped.  I still have some pain, but its mostly coming from arthritis.  They key to the carpal tunnel surgery is that my right hand no longer goes to sleep when I hold the telephone, cross my arms or sleep on it.   I had a productive Sat. morning - got to the post office for a certified letter, bank to deposit checks for my husband's business, PetsMart for some kitty litter and almost didn't get out of there w/o a tiny little orange kitten that was tugging at my heart strings.  DL pulled me away in time and reminded me that we have two cats that are more than enough.   I was suppose to do some stuff for work but ended up napping instead.  I heard others saying they haven't been feeling well this week and its been the same for me.  I've gone between horrendous sinus headaches to being naucious on and off.  I presume the stomach ache is coming from the new allergy pills, but its so weird to have an upset stomach.  I guess I hadn't realized how many years its been since I had a stomach ache, knock on wood.  It didn't help that I was stressing over not wanting to get sick at this time that would cause any delays in my surgery.  I switched decongestants, took some eye drops, pain reliever and took a 3 hour nap and it seems to be doing the trick.  Crossing all my fingers and toes. Have a good sunday everyone, enjoy the cooler weather!

Good morning OH family!  Yesterday went by way too fast for me before I knew it and got dressed for the day it was after 3pm, that's what I get for trying to sleep in but I really needed the rest because I haven't been feeling good the past few days.  It's not my gallbladder I don't have one but I do have liver problems I have heard that you don't really have pain with your liver but I'm  annot so sure about that?  They tried to tell me that I didn't have gallbladder problems to just because I didn't have stones well it took this one surgeon to run a special test to show that my gallbladder was only functioning at 12% and that's why I was having all that pain.  I knew all alone it was my gallbladder it just took me 3 yrs of being in pain to convence someone to run more test so I know my boday.  I ate last night and afterwards had a bad stomache ache again guess I need to go to the dr.? Jan;  Sorry to hear that you didn't get that thing you wanted at the auction it sounded neat but I couldn't have afforded that either.  I looked at your pics on that website of your yard and you have a really nice garden/yard.  I love the yellow roses I love yellow roses they are my favorite, makes me want to go buy myself some flowers to set on the table and enjoy!  My birthday is next Sat. maybe I will treat myself then? I do have roommates however the lady I live with is 86yrs old and unable to care for my babies while I'm away and her daughter who also lives there well she is my best friend and she would be coming with me she too has animals.  What we would need is someone to come in while we're gone and let them out but that's hard to find someone willing to do that.  I love my animals but it does make it hard if I want to go out of town.   Well, I guess I better get some thing accomplished today since I slacked off yesterday.  This weekend is just flying by I wi**** would slow down a bit!  Take care everyone and have a great day!

Good Morning Jan and OH Peeps: Well, I know you are all wondering how the reception went. We are all still alive~barely~LOL.... The kids went and got the industrial tent (9 am)-came over-we finished everything that needed to be done inside and out. Megan and I went and hung the signs and balloons so no one got lost, then we had to go to the store for some trash bags cause we ran out, of course-the ONE thing I didnt think of-LOL...Came home, finished putting up the big tent (little tent was for the BBQ and food area) and we were ALL set-got in the shower, got ready-and at about 4 pm, just 1/2 hr after getting the industrial tent up-the BIG BLACK CLOUDS came in like a BIG DOG-AND.....(dun. dun. dun......) we got 60+ mph winds and we lost BOTH TENTS within like a minutes time!!!! We were trying to make sure that the BBQ didnt tip over so we wouldnt lose the brisket-CRAP!!!! Anyway-then it started to rain like crazy and the phone starting ringing off the hook. After the wind stopped (about 10 min or so) I walked in the front door of the house-threw my hands up in the air and just said - Could I PLEASE just have this ONE THING, just THIS ONCE? FOR MY DAUGHTER, PLEASE? Went to my chair and cried my little head off. I know, I know-what a baby-but I just couldnt believe that ALL that work and everything and it was going to be ruined!!! (besides the fact that Mike and I busted our bums around here and were both hurting and overtired!) Turned the tv on, major thunderstorm warnings until 5:15, but they said it should pass quickly, altho-I dont have much faith in our weatherman!! It did start to break up-and we tried to get the big tent back up-but it was busted in 4 places-and couldnt be repaired-can you say ****!!!!  Ok-so plan B=move stereo system and chairs etc under the carport area that is connected to our porch (our covered porch is really big and runs the whole length of our house-and our house is ranch style-so its long.....Perfect plan B.....By the time the first guests arrived-it was STILL raining, but not as bad. By the time everyone arrived-it quit raining and the clouds had broke up-hey, maybe it will be a good party after all? Just maybe? Mike made the brisket, I made my famous baked beans that I have never even tasted (LOL), I made a southwestern (little spicy) pasta salad w/black beans, potato salad and deviled eggs. Megan made her spring cake (made with spongecake, vanilla pudding mix, crushed pineapples in 3 layers and strawberries on top) and I made my special chip dip that is a hit with everyone and we bought 2 other dips. Mel brought a ton of pop, chips, ice and hot dogs and she made some brownies (the hit of the party definitely) and some apple crisp cake or cobbler type cake....and then, of course-everyone brought their own alcohol-we just made sure that everyone had a designated driver and if they didnt-they were staying the night. (did have a couple of overnighters!)

By the time we all ate, it had cleared up and we all got in the pool. I must say, we had a LOT of fun-and everything was going really really good.....I had 2 margaritas-and wasnt feeling much pain really, for the first time in 6 months-and there was a cannonball competition-and I dont know what overcame me...but all the sudden-I WANTED TO BE THE WINNER.....I think it was the margaritas talking-but I did some-and I WON-it was unanimous-by all the judges outside the pool.....today tho-I wished I wouldnt have done it-because the back of my legs and bum hurt horribly (not whining, for sure its my own fault definitely, and the pain is better than the back pain-which I dont feel at this time-LOL) Now-IF that werent bad enough...I know, I know-they also did a belly flop competition-now I am feeling no pain and I have won the cannonball competition-so now I want to win the belly flop one too-you know everyone here was laughing their rears off, right? Well, I only won once, and after the 2nd one, I stopped-I felt like my face was sun burned? It definitely wasnt worth a few cheers....and no monetary winning-so I stopped!! My hubby won that one!!  So-we were having a blast and played some volleyball and whatever....and then disaster hit again-much worse than losing the tents.  Mikes dad is in a wheelchair-he lost part of his leg a couple years ago-from the polio he had as a kid-anyway-he was getting ready to leave-and he has one of those electric wheelchairs with the huge back wheels and is really heavy duty-anyway-at the same time he was leaving-one of Megans best friends asked if someone knew where her goggles were-and Mel said-they are right here honey-and walked over to the edge of the pool to bend over and pick them up and hand them to Heather-well, she touched the back of dads wheel chair- and right on the other side of Mel was the side of our old gazebo that was bolted into the ground.....well-dad backed up-ran up on Mels ankle and part of her leg, threw her into the corner post, it started coming down on my head-everyone was screaming for him to stop-Terry runs to help Mel, who is knocked over into the gazebo corner and Mike runs to block it from landing on my head-I saw it coming-but......So anyway-Mel is hurt. I hope nothing is broken-and you know her-she wouldnt say anything, Dad felt so bad-I thought he was gonna start crying and he couldnt apologize enough-but I know her better-I went and got her an ice pack to put on it-and she left here limping and had it elevated while they were getting the car packed etc.... I havent talked to her yet today-but I am praying that he didnt break something when he ran over her!!! It was already really bruised and swollen within a 1/2 hr or so-and a pretty bad scrape/gauge up the side of her ankle up her leg. Other than that-the one little side of my upper head hurts.....so other than those 2 incidents--it was a success-if Mel wouldnt have gotten hurt and we wouldnt have lost the tents-it would have been perfect. Megan and Aaron had a really good time, and that was really important to me. I had 2 WOW moments yesterday-Megans adopted mom, Karen came-I saw her in May when Megan graduated-and when she got here, Megan brought her in the house-well, I saw her-they were in the family room and I was in the livingroom on the phone-and when I went outside-Karen said WOW-Janet, when I saw you on the phone-I thought it was Stephanie....YAY....I said-I just saw you in May-and she said-you can tell just since May how much weight you have lost....YAY again since she is not one to give out false compliments-she wouldnt say anything at all-rather than lie to someone.....THEN...One of Megans best high school friends, Michelle, came down from Kansas City-and I havent seen her since Jon was 6 months old-at high school graduation (they had their graduation parties together) anyway-when I walked outside-her eyes did that bugs bunny thing-where they popped out of her face for a minute-and then she said the same exact thing to me-I thought you were Stephanie for a minute-OMG-I cant believe how different and good you look!!! So-that made me feel good-2 people mistaken me for Steph...who I think is so cute anyway-LOL.....Megan is vertically challenged, but Steph is like 3 inches taller than me-anyway-I felt pretty good about that. So, today I have to do a few dishes that I didnt get done last night (let them soak) then go get all the balloons and decorations off the porch and out of the yard-and just get some other stuff picked up and get the coolers emptied (there are 5 on the porch and then 1 bobber cooler in the pool area) and then get the misc picked up and do a couple loads of laundry-and I AM NOT DOING ANYTHING ELSE TODAY!!! We had to put the hose in the pool last night and I have to go get that out of the pool and check levels so if we want to swim tonite, we can. I plan on having a lazy day, if I can. We got all the dishes and trash picked up last night and I gave Mel some leftover beans (she loves those things) and the southwestern salad-and I did one load of dishes that couldnt go in the dishwasher-and by the time I got the crock pot emptied-I didnt care if it got thrown in the trash (LOL)...So I soaked it for the night and today I am going to put the leftover brisket in it with some of our really good BBQ sauce-its the Otts Silver Dollar City original BBQ sauce and we use it for a lot of our meats etc....So-that will be our dinner. Mike was disappointed because it wasnt as tender as his brisket usually is-but its also the first time we have bought it at Walmart. Food 4 Less was out when we went to get it from them-so I wont buy it there again~~But, it was still good and everyone loved it. **Jan-we do not have a no kill shelter here. They do have a new organization that is all like foster homes for pets-and thats who we adopted Abby from. The little dog left yesterday afternoon and we havent seen him since. We had him for about 24 hrs, but we didnt let him in the house, but I did give him some food and water. Not sure where he went-but I know mom and dad will end up with him if he is still around-because they usually take them in and either keep them or find someone for them. A lot of us out here have dump offs for pets. My dogs werent dump offs-and we got the 2nd lab when he was a pup-or Dozer wouldnt have allowed him in the pen-he does NOT like other dogs unless they are pups, so I cant put another dog in that pen. Its big enough, the pen area is-but I have my hands full with those 2, I dont want or need anymore.

Im sorry you didnt get your chiffarobe. Man, that went for a lot of money-but usually big antique peices will-did a dealer buy it? We have a lot of those here-or antique store owners/furniture store owners, they come and pay outragious prices for stuff and then sell them for a lot more money.

Yes-those Boston Ferns were HUGE and most of them were absolutely beautiful. Yes, I do have the room for them in my house-but, no money for things like that right now-so I hope to find some good deals like that next year. **Nutti-YAY for you!!! Congrats on the weight loss-you go girl!! And the inches-that is fabulous-I am so happy for you-and glad you dont have to "free flop" it anymore!! I hate not being able to wear a bra-I feel out of sorts!! I wore one even with the one incision being there-thought it was better than my big old heavy boobs hanging all over it and keeping it moist-LOL....However, on the way home from the hospital, which ended up being like 7-8 hrs because of the roads being so bad in Columbia-and then here in Diamond-it took forever-and I didnt wear one home-but I really didnt care at that point-I was pretty doped up~

What kind of stuff do you send your son in his care packets and how often do you send them out? We donate things for care packages sometimes and so I was just wondering if there was something that the boys and I could bring over to put in the package? It will be a couple of weeks before I have extra money, but would love to contribute something to it?  Please, let me know.

**Chelle-Im so sorry for the mix up on the surgery dates-I was thinking that you had your surgery the day before Susan, but it was Erin-Im so sorry. Yes, with so much going on-I did get it mixed up-makes more sense-and when I looked at my calender hanging right next to my desk-saw that it was the 16th-so my bad. Sounds like your feeling better, Im happy for you. Glad to see you back on-missed you when you were gone. Love ya

**Julia-Congrats on the WOW moment and clothing. Im in that size right now-some are getting baggy anyway-I cant wrap my mind around it-I truly know I havent been this small in 20 years plus too-and I am loving every single minute of it.  My daughter and her hubby are thinking about coming down for the night on Saturday-and I know they would love to split the cost with someone-but neither of them has had surgery yet-would that be a big deal for you? Im not sure if they will have the extra money to put in a reservation tho-I cant remember if its $50 or $75 for one of the 2 bdrm cabins-but I dont know if they will have it to put down for the deposit before they come down-they may just try to see if they have something open for that night when they get there and if they dont-then stay at a nearby motel or something....I will let you know-IF you would be interested. I would offer to let you stay with us-but we rented the 4 bdrm and we are at our max capacity for people. Sorry. We will send out another post about it and the reunion, ok?

**Sheila-I cannot wait to be able to get on some rides with my kids-thats for sure. Its on my wish list and one of my goals. I was always way too fat for anything but the tilt a whirl, so now I am looking forward to riding whatever I want. I love the water flume (log) rides....so hopefully, when we are in Branson, the kids and I can go to Celebration City and get that done-and another thing checked off my list. Cant wait to meet you there!! Or maybe at the group in August-if all goes well.

**Sug and Becs-Im so sorry you guys have to have your gall bladders out. When I worked at the hospital, I heard so many horror-stories about what it feels like when they are going bad-and a lot of people described it as feeling like they are having a heart attack-that would stink!!! Im sorry-I wish you guys didnt have to go through that, but I think once its done-you will feel so much better-a lot of people left the day of surgery feeling better than they did when they went in. I will keep you BOTH in my prayers for a safe surgery and very speedy recovery.

**Erin-Congrats on your job!!! I will also be praying that your house deal goes through this time. You sound like your doing good-do you still have the same cell number or did it change? (guess I could just call it and see, huh?) At any rate-good luck, sweety-think of you often and hope all goes well.

**Tammy-Ammy-how are the girls doing? Sounds like its starting to settle down...Im glad. Please tell Ada she is in my thoughts and prayers-and I know she is a fighter-she will be just fine-its just going to take an adjustment period.  Give the princess Christa a hug-Im glad they are safe from ANY kind of abuses and with you-Love you. Talk to you soon.

**Brenda and Deb M-where are you both? Are you guys ok? We miss you when you dont post-even if just for a day-just check in and say-hey, Im okay-goodbye....Remember-your both in our prayers and your both loved very much by all of us here. We are praying for you AND your spouses and families. Love you both!

**Susan, Sherr, Cindy in KC, Lana, Mel, Krissy, Chante and Charlotte, Virginia and Rianne-HELLO-and to all the other MIAs that we arent seeing much of-we miss ya....we love you-come back and post-PLEASE...

**TO ALL YOU LURKERS and NEWBIES-WELCOME-come on and say hi-and post. Let us get to know you. We love all our new people and EVEN if you dont think you have anything important to say-WE LOVE TO HEAR even the most ordinary days and things. Some only get time to get in here and post-so its the best place to get a response about something or have someone see a question or concern....Look forward to hearing from you. Well, Im off. I am going to send out a few emails and get some stuff done here around the yard and the house and relax a bit. Its nice-for the first time in over a whole week-NOT to have ANYTHING I HAVE to do!!! No company today either!! Dont get me wrong-I LOVED seeing Wally for 3 days, then Sus and Rory and I loved everyone at the party-but I am exhausted and look forward to not worrying about the house being perfect and all of that-although this is the best its looked in a LONG time-LOL.. (not that we are pigs or anything, but I dusted, did walls and cobwebs, toilets and all that) So, anyway-I hope that all of you have a wonderful Sunday and enjoy your loved ones-as always, your in my thoughts and prayers.  Janet

Hello to everyone,     Just wanted to tell you Jan, I have a chiffarobe that mom and dad had for a long time and it came from grandma and grandpa so it is well over 100 years old.  It is that dark black color and has some scratches on.  Around the outside of the doors he has like etched little circles around the dorr and is intricate.  On the frond the doors open and on the right side is a bar to hang clothes.  then on the left side are 3 shelves and then below the shelves are 2 drawers that open to store stuff.  I have never refinished it, but it has a few scratches on front.  I plan to just get some of that dark crayons or color to touch it up.  Never dreamed it was worth that much.  Also I have an elegant framed picture of Jesus in all black and white.  The frame is also old.  On the back is like a pocket where they used to store stuff.  So you know it is an old picture.  I remember looking at it when I was a kid. And I am not a kid anymore.  LOL.  The funny part of it, is no matter where you stand, walk or sit, it looks like the eyes of Jesus are watching you.     Have a great day.    Colette
