Need some help!!! I am having employer problems
Ok, Here goes my problem. Even though my employer approved my time off for my surgery on August 8th. The person who was going to fill in for me got sick. Now they are more or less telling me in subtle terms that I need to postpone my surgery. When they found out I was having surgery, they sent my supervisor out to talk to me and they decided all of a sudden to put me on a perfomance plan. Any suggestions out there? Thanks in advance for you help
altho i dont have any suggestions other than to say that sounds very bias and certainly uncalled for from them. If you were having heart surgery they wouldnt do this to you.
When are you suppose to have surgery? an how do they know this person is going to still be sick then too? Anyway sorry i cant help you but hope someone on here can. Glad to see you posting. Jan

How in the world can they give you the time off and then renig on it???? I don't know how they can do it if you gave plenty notice about it....I would definitly tell them that this is a surgery to increase the quality of your life and you dont take it lightly and had to go thru plenty to get to this point and if you put it off it may take you months to get another date....
I hope things work out for you and you get to keep your date you already have set....will have you in my prayers.. God Bless...Hug...Tammy~ammy

I'm sorry to hear what you are going through, but I fear the same thing might happen to me as well. I am afraid that once I get approval from my insurance and set the date that they will not allow me to do it, or atleast postpone it due to being to busy. I do not have anyone available to fill in for me just because of the difficulty in finding someone for my specific position. I have not told anyone but my immediate boss at work about the surgery. She is very supportive but I'm afraid that higher up all they have in mind is business.
I hope everything works out for you.

I agree with Lana. I would contact labor relations about what your rights are regarding this surgery. You might even contact a lawyer. I am not above getting my rights upheld using the law. What type of illness does this person have, that they already know that they will be sick next week? Sounds pretty fishy to me. There is so much discrimination against the obese person. What type of performance plan did they put you on? This is totally rediculous. A performance plan because you are having surgery? Come on. Get legal help for sure. Keep us updated.
