~Countdown for reunion begins~details~for everyone~
Hello everyone~ Well, the 1st annual Missouri Board Reunion is roughly 5 weeks away now-so will be posting more frequently as we have a lot of newbies here and some that have had questions..... 1. Who is the reunion for?
The reunion is for ANYONE who wants to participate-NO MATTER where you are in your journey. Pre-op or Post-op-we would LOVE to meet you-as well as anyone you want to bring with you!!!
2. When and Where is the Reunion?
The reunion is in West Branson at a resort called Green Valley Resort. The day dedicated for the reunion is September 8th-a lot of people are staying one or more nights though. It is up to each individual to make their own reservations and such and when calling-DO NOT refer to your reservation as a reunion reservation or your deposit portion will be doubled. IF you choose just to come for the day-it will be $5 per person, but this allows you ALL the same ammenities that those reserving cabins have.
3. What ammenities does the resort offer?
You can get on their website and research and review their ammenities-but they have a solar powered pool, which they have said that they will keep open for us, they have a hot tub, they offer a general area in the middle of the resort that has volleyball, badmitton, horseshoes and shuffleboard-along with a firepit and a playground for the kids. They also have 2 swimming docks and fishing docks as well. You can bring your own boat-or rent one of theirs.
4. What activities will be happening for the reunion?
We will be having a pot luck lunch, with everyone bringing one dish to share with all-with the recipe-if possible, in case someone wants it. We will be having a white elephant gift exchange, a raffle and games for the kids. Dependent on some other things, we may have a little awards ceremony or something along those lines.
5. What will we need to bring?
Everyone, whether renting a cabin or coming for the day will need to bring their own meat for grilling, your potluck dish and your own towels for the pool, hot tub or water. IF you are just coming for the day, you will also need to bring your own lawn type chairs and eating utensils and such. Susan will be bringing a tent to place in the commons area-and for those of renting cabins-we will be allowed to move our picnic tables and such to that area-BUT-dependent on how many people come, it may not be enough seating-so please make sure you bring the necessary items with you. 6. What is the website? The website is www.greenvalleyresort.com and you can get on there and check it out and call and make your reservations. IF you are interested in splitting the cost of a cabin-we have some single members or others who are willing to share that cost. All cabins are 2 bedrooms and they all come equipped with showers, eating utensils, refridgerators and such. IF you would be interested in sharing a cabin-there will be another post sent out about that so you can connect with one another and get it all straightened out. I will also be sending out another post about the potluck and such and for anyone willing to donate prizes and etc. 7. Can we bring alcohol? This question has come up by some other members-and all that we ask-is that everyone is considerate of others. Thats just simple-dont get drunk and act indecent. Period.
