Good Morning everyone,

I am supposed to do two weeks of liquid diet for my surgery on August 29. Well I have kinda started this week to practice, i guess. I have been doing fairly well but have cheeted, with a few bites almost daily for the last 3 days. Is it because I know I can get away with it until the 15th? I really want to suceed at this, but i secretly sabatoge it I think. Please keep me in your prayers. I also have realised that if I keep up this practice run until the 15th, I have already had my "last meal". That shocks me. I went grocerey shopping a few days ago and bought stuff for meals. I comletely forgot i would not be eating any of it. That is really hard. My family has been really supportive and doesn't mind me leaving them there to finish thier meal when i finish my protien shake. Is this how it is going to be forever? Well, just a little rant i guess. Talk to you all soon, rebecca

Rebecca, It won't be this way forever, I promise.  I'm about 7 1/2 months out and can eat many of the things I cook for my DH, just smaller amounts.  Of course I don't cook the forbidden white things, potatoes, rice, pasta, bread, etc., even for him because he still has some weight to lose too, but as far as meats and salads and veggies go I eat the same things he does.  Occasionally we have a baked sweet potato - tastes marvelous.  You will always have to be observant of what sits well in your stomach and also of high fat high calorie foods but you really won't mind.  Beinig thinnner is so much fun you won't miss the things you absolutely cannot have.  Let yourself have the "last meal" if you want it.  You still have over two weeks to be super good.  But, do know that you will eat like a normal THIN person again.   You're doing great. Hugs and love, Lana

Sounds like you're doing super duper to me!! Yes by all means go ahead and let yourself have your last meal. Do it with a conscious  tho don't say to yourself oh this is my last meal give me four of those rolls. Eat one and send the rest away.  Also it won't be like this forever. I have two children and BF at home and my daughter is pregnant. So she wants to eat ALL the time and mom can't really eat right now. I have mourned food and even fixed dinner for everyone and then went upstairs and cried. Allow yourself to mourn you need to do that. Just don't spend too much time on it. Think of how much better you will feel and how proud your family wil be when they see a difference in how you're feeling. I am getting better with coping. I can actualy fix supper for my family and it not bother me anymore. I use this rationing. I say to mself as I put it on the table. "Enjoy my little family cause when I can eat normally again there will be some CHANGES in this house" Ihave spent weeks now compiling recipes that I think my family as well as myself will enjoy. Also see what you can do with those recipes that are their favorites to make them healthier. LMBO you think they have been wondering WHY mom and dear ole girlfriend has been fixing everyones favorites yet. Probably not but when I can eat I won't be fixing two meals only one. Unless it's a special occasion. I think they do need to eat healthier too. I will not make them change all the way but it'll be nice to know they are getting a good healthy meal in. The ones they like I will keep but I will try to keep to myself that I am making healthier dinners. Also, I wanted to share with you that it does get easier. At first when I came home. Someone would bring mcdonalds home and I could smell it from upstairs Now the smell of it makes me feel sick to my stomach. The other day we wnet grocery shopping at wal mart and I needed to go sit down the only place was near Subway. The smell of those spices and breads baking smelt SO bad to me that I had to get up and move. I really thought I was going to be sick right there. A few weeks after your surgery things change esp the way things smell. Burger places smel So bad to me like a big pot of burnt grease. Another tip I thought you might like is. If you have a chance go to super walmart and in the frozen section they have like family sized Lasagna, and Macoroni with beef, Chicken parmigana, pot pis and big mexican entrees. I know it's not healthy but it'll get the family through when the thought of making supper really makes you sick. You can just tell husband or one of the kids dinner is in the freezer pick what you want and put it in the oven. They have all different kinds of things my daughter got some of the lipton mexican rice dishes ( I think they have 3 diff kinds) she makes this for the family when they have one of their mex entrees. I actually made no bake cookies for my family because my daughter was craving them and didn't take ONE bite or taste and guess what??? IT DIDN'T BOTHER ME!! YAAAAAYYY So don't worry it'll get better and before you know it you'll be eating like a skinny person and looking forward to the healthier way of things. All that sounds so good to me. I am still in semi soft stages but boy do those veggies and chicken and shaved lunch meat sound good. THe other stuff like bread and cookies and bad for you stuff doesn't sound good AT ALL. Sorry so long Hugs

Thanks guys. I just needed a bit of encouragement. I am always hard on myself. I have realy been doing well, and I know that I will have to look at my relationship with food differently now.  Thanks again and I will talk to you later. Rebecca
