Bob McQueen - Sunday Afternoon Update
MIssouri Board,
I just got off the phone with Bob's wife and there's been no change since Friday when I spoke with her. He is still in critical condition - no better or no worse. He has not improved to the point to where they can close him up. Currently his incision sternum to below the belly button is still open. Plans are for another surgery tomorrow (a "washout") to clean-up the drainage. His drains have a large amount of fluid coming from them - the fluid from them is not as dark as it was in previous days so that "could" be a positive sign, but not sure. The fluid from Bob's JP drain from his pouch is producing stomach acids so that appears to be a positive.
So at this point, not much change. I will say that Bob's wife sounded extremely tired so she could definitely use some extra prayers to help lift her up.
More info as it becomes available...I hope the next time I receive any news that it's from Bob directly and he's conscious and on the road to recovery. At this point, it sounds like he's got a difficult road to travel.
Keep the prayers and positive thoughts flowing for Bob and his family!

I've been in Bob's shoes and it isn't fun. In 2000, I had an adhesion that was blocking my small intestine. It was a simple surgery that went down hill. The surgeon knew he nicked my bowel but in only 1 place. He told my husband what happened and that he was able to fix it, so he thought. The next day I had a fever of 105 and was rushed into surgery as there were 3 more punctures and by this time I was septic. I was in the hospital for 6 weeks and then went in every 2 or 3 weeks because of abcesses. My incision was never closed, it had to heal from the inside out. It took 11 months for it to close up. That year is pretty much of a blur, but my family remembers each and every day. Our prayers are with Bob and his family.
