lap band question

Okay...so this is kind of gross....but I have to ask... I have diarrhea so bad...is this from all the fluids? I just had surgery monday so thats all i can have..but I keep having diarrhea. I also from time to time have pain...I think like a burp or gas pain between my breasts..is this normal? Don't get me wrong, I don't feel that bad...but just wondering if this is all normal behavior. the pain could be normal...I NEVER burped before...ok, ocassionally with soda but that is it.  After the surgery, I had to "learn" how to burp.  So, if you are not being very productive with your burps, it could be normal.   As for the diarrhea,  I don't know....I never had it after the surgery...in fact, just the opposite and they warned me it could be an issue.  As much as it is yucky to discuss, I went from having bowel movements once to twice a day to maybe  once every other day.   I would watch it and if isn't better by Friday, maybe call....you need your fluids!   Jennifer

Hi Stacy hope you are feeling better. I had very loose stools after surgery but i had RNY so thought it was possible all the rearranging. I guess it was just fluids going in. I had it for almost 2 weeks untill i started getting some foods in me.  Gas pain get some gas x strips. great stuff.   Jan

Doing good, can't wait for my fill next week.  I need it.  Now that the swelling has went down, I am more hungery and can eat more.  I  wish for the swollen days!  It is taking a lot of self control.  I can't eat as much as I did before the band but still more than I should.   Will let you know how the fill goes!   Jennifer

Jennifer....I agree.  I have my first fill next week and I need it.  I find myself eating too much in the evening...I have had to go back to shakes to keep under control! Good luck.  And we will compare notes soon! Tina

I had my lap band the day after you but in Columbia.  I to am having some loose stools but my Dr told me that it has to be pure water to be called diarrhea.  I am also burping and when I drink I guess I get air ( I guess we wont have the best manners any more). 

Stacey I had my surgery last Thursday and I am the same way after anything I drink about 5 minutes after my stomach starts to gurgle and then I have diarrhea too. I am also getting occasional pain in my shoulder but more like I strained it trying to get up and down and hold in my stitches on my tummy. I do not feel bad either but I have been in the bathroom all through the day since coming home. In the hospital I was not eating or drinking at all until my drink test so I am thinking that is why nothing was happening there.  Just thought I would share since it sounds like we are having the same situation. The fluid weeks are hard!
