New to the area

Hi everyone, I just moved here from minneapolis, mn on friday.  I start a new job on monday.  I had surgery on June 7th, 07.  I had gastric bypass.  Though i had a rough beginning things are better now.  I have currently lost 90 lbs.  I would like to get info on support groups or coffe groups if there any in the st. louis area or close to creve coeur.  So far the people i have met, are very nice.  Reminds me of "minnesota nice"...lol.

Nancy so good to meet you and hope you keep coming to the Mo. board. I dont know what support groups there are there in the St. louis area. But i know there are some and if some of you that know about the groups in the sl area please let Nancy know. Jan

Nancy...Welcome to Missouri and to the Missouri OH Board! Sounds like you are doing really well with your weight loss. My surgery was June 4th and I have lost about the same as you....Isn't it wonderful!!! I am so happy I decided to have the surgery! Welcome to Missouri!!!  I'm born and raised right here in St Louis.    As far as support groups your way:   there's, one at DePaul Hospital and one at St Alexius Hospital:  these are doctor based support groups.   There's also a group that's meeting in Fenton - which is not a doctor based support group; and I believe they meet on the first Monday of the month - so that would be coming up in another week or so.

Thanks for the welcome.  Everyone here has been so nice. i geuss i can't express that enough...lol.  It will be nice to get out and about and meeting people.

The DePaul support group meets every first and third Wednesday at DePaul Medical's May Center in Bridgeton, just a few miles north of Creve Couer.  It starts at 5:30 and typically last about 1.5 hours.  Over in the left margin of this website SSM DePaul has an advertisement which will take you to their website, then click on Seminars for more details such as topics for upcoming group meetings.
