I go to my surgeon on Wed. I have recovered well, but I am always tired, I feel like it isn't normal at this point.  I am wondering if he needs to check my iron or b12. I take supplements, but this really can't be right, Any ideas. or questions I should ask. They really rush you and I always panic and say I am fine so I have to go in with a plan.

yes ask for labs for everything all the vits , etc etc Vit D, B12, Iron, calcium etc all of it.  In fact really insist on it. Even if you are taking suplemnets you can be low on something that is making you tired. ....Be your own avdocate. it is your body. I know they rush you but you are the one that has to live with your body.    there is a list of labs that is needed online if you are interested pm me and i will see if i can find it and post it for you and everyone.

Hi Christen - what supplements are you currently taking and how much?  Are you taking iron, B12 (in what form and how much)?  How about protein - are you drinking protein shakes every day?  Drinking all your water?   Lab work is really going to tell you where your levels are; but there are minimums that every post-op should be taking.   So if you wouldn't mind sharing what you're currently doing, perhaps there is something you can do in the interim, while waiting for some lab work, that might help.

I am not so great woth protein, I have been getting 50 grams a day lately though. I take 2500 mcg b12 sublingual twice a week. I was doing it once, but thought I would try twice to see if it helps.  I take a centrum chewable for adults. I am not sure if it is right, I am going to show it the the nutritionist to be certian, and 2 citrical creamy bites. I try my best with water, but I probably do fall short most days. I was doing great exercising, but not so much now because I am tired.  I have a two kids 3 and 14, and I babysit a 18 month old and a 2 year old all day. By the time the boys leave I am fried and can not get up the motivation to go workout. I tried doing tapes at home, but the boys make that impossible and at naptime they take up all the rooms I have. Except my daughters which you can't even move in. I am not trying to make excuses, just being honest. I had the energy to workout and now I don't.

Ugh - twice I have typed out a lengthy, detailed reply and twice my browser crashed and I lost it.  I'm out of time this morning.  Basically, I'd recommend getting your labs drawn to check where your levels are and get a copy of your labs.  Always get a copy of your labs for yourself.  The labs will show if you are low in anything.  Feel free to post your levels here and I'd be glad to help you.  :)

Thank You so much. I am thinking my energy level is getting somewhat better, but I am still going to ask about it.
