So, I had my 3 month visit

I am happy with my weight loss, but not the office visit. I was put in a room with at least 10 oother people to meet with the doctor and then the nutritionist. I found it very offputing to have to ask your questions in front of everyone. I also asked about my fatigue and he said if I exercise more I should have more energy. I know this, but I really don't feel that is the problem . I guess I will go to my pcp for my questions or blood work.  There were a couple of strange ducks that took up a lot of time. I felt like cattle. Like, I as a patient  I wasn't important enough to warrant a one on one meeting with the docotor. This is major surgery and lifestlye change. They have great support groups, but I  also feel like I want supprort from my surgeon too. I have overall been happy with the experience, but this has gooten my goat, so to speak.

what?!!  You were in a room with other people for your 3 month post-op doctor's visit?  This must be something new, because I too had my surgery with Dr. Richardson and it wasn't like that for my post-op checkups.  I wouldn't like that either.  I'm not sure where in St Louis you are, but aside from the NewStart support group, and the one at DePaul, there's the WLS Achievers support group in Fenton, the first Monday of every month and then I'm starting a new support group in Sullivan after the first of the year.  I will be going through the OH leader training, so we will be an official OH support group and my personal physician said he would be the consulting physician for us.  You are welcome to join our support group as well.

I live in South County. The DePaul one is kind of far, butg thanks for telling me about those. I had no idea.   I thought the visit was crazy too. I think that most everyone was uncomfortable for sure. I have a friend and she said that is how they did it for her, and they even tried o charge her a copay, when she wasn't even seeing the doctor. She said from her on out I won't see him alone unless I have a problem. The entire thing was crazy and chaotic. The nutritionist had no control over the group so we missed most of the info anyway.

I really hope they didn't ask any medical questions of you.  That is really a violation of privacy laws (HIPAA).  I would call & let them know how uncomfortable this made you, & how you were not told that this would not be a one on one visit with your surgeon.   That's just me.  But there are privacy laws for a reason.  Not everyone needs to know your personal medical business.    Kerri

I guess you they figure they don't have to share or ask anything it you don't want to. I think I may write a letter or something though.
