Howdy yall.... I read posts each time I get on the board from those who are about to start their liquid diets....And they already no in advance that it's not going to be easy to do it. Some are lucky to only have to do it one week but there are quite a few who have to do it for 2 weeks.  Going from eating to not having anything at all is a challenge for anyone!!!  I had to do my liquid diet for 3 months just to get to have my surgery. My BMI was very high and the doctor wanted me to loose 50lbs before he done the surgery.....Can you imagin 3 months of not getting to eat???? Well I didn't manage to do it all that time! I am human and you can only take soooo much.... the first few weeks I worked my way up to leaving out more and more...Then I went to having my protein shakes 3-4 times a day along with all my other fluids and having a lite meal in the early evenings...And always made sure they had lots of protein to them.... I would have lettuce w/ cottage cheese, drained tuna in water and add a few red beans to it....Or a salade with boneless, skinless chicken breast and a lil ranch dressing.. I always tried to make it lite and get as much protein in as I could....And I did over the course of the 3 months eat a few things now and then that I really wanted! My thing that was a killer to give up was chinese food. MMMMMMMMM.....lol lol.... Any way, my point to all this is...PEOPLE DO NOT WAIT TILL THE LAST MINIT TO START YOUR LIQUID DIET!!! IF YOUR DOING YOUR HOME WORK YOU KNOW IT'S COMING!!!!  Start working with it in advance, work you way up to not eating! Although I did eat a bit, 3 months of this stuff about broke me! It is not a easy thing for anyone!  So help yourself along with it and start at least a few weeks before you two weeks of the liquid diet. Give your self time to adjust and find things that work to help you get through those tough moments!!!!! Doing this will help you out alot when it comes to those actual moments of having to go straight liquids! And it will help you weight wise too....I lost over 60lbs in those 6months!!! As of now I am down 165lbs+...And I am tickled to death....But, my most memorable pounds are the ones I lost by meself before surgery....I not only done it on my own, but I done it thru something I thought I would never be able to do. So PLEASE do yourself a favor and do not wait till the last minit and then just jump into the liquid diet.... Thanks for listening....I hope my thoughts will help some of you out!!!  God Bless each of you....I wish you all the best on your new journey!!!! Luv & Hugs.....Tammy~ammy

three months, holy cow...   Well, I wanted to share my thought process too as it might inspire some.  The day AFTER my insurance approved me, I started my liquid diet.  I was HOPING that I could wow the doctor into being impressed that I was so much on the ball that I wouldn't have to wait as long for my surgery.   Know what...  IT WORKED!!  When I met with Dr. Edwards I had been on the liquid diet for one week, he scheduled my surgery the next week.  He had an opening, I was on the ball with my liquid diet and before I knew it, I was having surgery.   So, if nothing else, getting a jump on it MIGHT make your surgery come faster.   Just FYI, Jennifer
